Ashley and Traci Share Their Hard Times, Romances and Memories to Welcome Allie Into the Abbott Family
Friday, June 17, 2022: Today on The Young and the Restless, Ashley and Traci share their histories with Allie as they welcome her as part of the Abbott family.
Traci and Ashley meet at Society and look forward to spending a little time with Allie, their new grand niece. Traci hopes she decides to make Genoa City her permanent home. Talk turns to her being estranged from her mother — they both know what that’s like. Traci recalls being away at boarding school and how glad she was to have her daddy there for support when she came home. She flashes to John giving her a pep talk.
Traci admits, “I miss him. I think of him every single day.” Ashley does too. He was always there for every single milestone moment and always encouraging them to embrace the future. She recalls a conversation with John on her graduation. Ashley feels it’s important they honor Jack and their father by making Allie feel she’s a part of this family.
Abby shows Traci and Ashley to their special table, where they’ll enjoy a special menu, and they gush that it’s so thoughtful of her. Allie joins them and Abby runs off to the kitchen. Traci and Ashley are ready to tell her about their lives. Allie thinks it’s obvious they’re super close. Traci enthuses that they’re friends and sisters forever. Ashley assures Allie she can’t overstep and urges her to ask them anything she wants to know.
Allie learns that Traci wrote the Abbott family history in a book, but they wanted her to hear some of the stories in person. Allie marvels at being personally connected to Jabot and gushes about getting to see the lab. They discuss having supportive fathers who wanted them to pursue their own passions. Allie asks if Traci always knew she wanted to be a writer. Traci laughs and Ashley reveals she was once a singer. She mentions Danny Romalotti. Traci muses that in many ways he saved her. He asked her to sing with him and was very cute. “He still is.” She flashes to Danny telling her how glad he is that they got to become such good friends.
Traci explains that she eventually figured out her real passion was for writing and recalls receiving her first book after it went into print. Allie marvels that they are so confident, and they laugh and tell her they weren’t like this at her age. Traci ruminates that the young adult years can be some of the most challenging of your life. She struggled with her weight and got addicted to diet pills. Ashley shares it was difficult to watch her hurt that way. Traci recalls her issues with Lauren Fenmore. “She could turn on the charm like nobody’s business, but there was something about me. She just didn’t like me. But I found ways to fight back.” She flashes to Lauren ordering her a banana split at a restaurant and her walking over and dumping it over her head.
Allie, Traci and Ashley laugh. Traci admits that decades later she and Lauren became friends. She recalls her apology. Allie asks if Ashley had a nemesis. Ashley had a romantic rivalry with Nikki Newman. Traci tells Allie that’s Noah’s grandmother. They recall Ashley squaring off with Nikki over Victor. Ashley shudders.
Ashley tells Allie she’ll spare her the details about her relationship with Victor, but suffice it to say it came at a cost. She remembers them having an emotional confrontation in the pouring rain after she had an abortion. Allie’s stunned to hear they not only made it through the dark days, but got married more than once. She recalls a romantic moment with Victor giving her a diamond pendant and telling her he wants to make her life a fantasy.
Abby appears and explains she’s part of the bond Ashley and Victor still share today. Brad’s name comes up and Traci explains he’s no longer with them… but from the moment he came through the door of the Abbott house he changed all of their lives forever. Traci fills Allie in on Brad’s rise to an executive, but he started as a pool keeper… and she couldn’t keep her eyes off him. She remembers Brad telling her he’s going to take her out to the movies. Ashley agrees, “He was quite a charmer.”
Traci fell for him hard and recalls their honeymoon. She explains to Allie that they couldn’t hold it together, but one beautiful thing came out of their love. “Our daughter, Colleen.” She flashes back to Colleen’s birth. Allie didn’t know she had a daughter Traci explains she passed away when she was about the age Allie is now. Allie wonders how she got through it. Traci admits it was the most difficult thing she had to face… but her family helped her get back on her feet.
Abby reappears as Traci explains that Ashley also had a soft spot for Brad. Ashley concedes, “I’ve been married several times.” She tells Allie that Abby was born on their wedding day and recalls her demanding Victor hand over her baby in the hospital. She explains Brad adopted Abby, who adds that nobody knew Victor was her father for years. She feels her mom and her aunt are amazing women with wisdom and love to share.
Traci, Ashley and Allie arrive at the Abbott mansion where Billy and Jack are hanging out in the living room. They explain they’ve been dishing about the family. Allie’s loved hearing everything about their lives. Billy talks up his sisters and offers to give her another version of the Abbott story. Allie wants to get dinner sometime. Billy gives a preview and explains how they’ve sometimes gone at it, but always had each other’s backs no matter what. Ashley tearfully reveals to Allie that she’s a breast cancer survivor and thinks back to Jack’s concern at the time.
Allie thinks her family is very special. Jack’s glad to hear her talk about herself as one of them, because she is. Talk turns back to John and they recall toasting to their dad at the breakfast table. Ashley feels it’s probably one of the most important traditions they have. Traci tells Allie they’re happy to have a seat at the table for her.
Allie gets a text and announces she’s going to hang out with Noah. Traci urges her to go and Billy offers to walk her out. She thanks Traci and Ashley for everything today and follows Billy out. Jack thanks his sisters and they agree to be there for the girl. Jack asks if they mentioned Dina to her at all. They didn’t because they didn’t want her to feel they were pressuring her to talk about her own mother. Traci recalls confronting Dina and asking if she ever really wanted her.
Ashley remembers when Dina told her Brent Davis was her biological father. That was so painful that she literally couldn’t remember who she was or where she came from. She supposes it was so hard to accept that she wasn’t John Abbott’s daughter. She flashes to John crying as he tried to bring her home. She’s relieved he never found out the truth.
Ashley never thought she’d get past her difficulties with Dina, but in the end, her mother came through for her. She recalls thanking Dina for protecting her in writing. “You did love me.” Ashley talks about them reconciling their wounds with their mother. “She loved us.” Traci will carry that forever.” Jack tells Ashley and Traci he’s proud to call them his sisters. Traci marvels, “What happened?!” Just the other day they were running around the house and now there’s grandchildren… and grand nieces. Ashley is encouraged that the generations to come will know their stories and their mistakes and carry forward the best qualities while knowing how very lucky they are to be an Abbott.
