Sally Threatens Phyllis When They Square Off at the Hotel — And Devon Wants to Take Dominic From Abby’s Home
Wednesday, November 10, 2021: Today on The Young and the Restless, Amanda testifies against Sutton, Chloe snaps at Sally, and Nick shares Devon's concern.
At the hotel, Phyllis thanks Jack for pulling her out of her funk. He’s always there for her. Jack is heading to the gym so she pecks him on the cheek as Sally and Chloe enter the lobby and see. Chloe clocks Sally’s reaction and forces her to admit she’s miffed. Chloe wonders if she’s still hoping she and Jack will get back together. Sally realizes that’s never going to happen, but she’s upset that she’s still a pariah in this town, while Phyllis, who hurt Jack worse than she ever did, still has him pining. She can’t understand him giving her a free pass. Chloe explains forgiveness is earned. Sally doubts Phyllis has earned it and wishes she could expose her for the total fake that she is. Phyllis pops up behind her and urges, “Take your best shot.”
More: Phyllis’ new romance?
Chloe tries to get the ladies to dial it down, to no avail. Phyllis won’t be insulted in her hotel and informs Sally she’s not a fake or a phony, she’s the real deal and owns her mistakes. Sally mocks her and wonders how comfortable Nick really is with her “friendship” with Jack. Phyllis snarls that her personal life is nobody’s business, least of all Sally’s. Sally thinks she hit a nerve and muses that Nick might be interested in the little scene she witnessed in Tuscany. Phyllis suggests Chloe get Sally out of there, so she does. Jack reappears and asks what happened. Phyllis groans that she let Sally get under her skin. She asks if they were ever in a situation in Italy that to someone else, might seem untoward. Jack remembers them sitting up late in her room talking. Sally said something that got her thinking is all… Jack warns Phyllis not to let Sally get to her.
At the penthouse, Amanda thanks Michael for getting her away from the reporters at the courthouse. They cheers to her giving it all she had on the stand. Amanda takes a call from Devon, who is at the Chancellor mansion, and he apologizes for not making the trial. Amanda understands and will fill him in on the hearing when he gets home.
At the Chancellor Estate, Devon answers the door to Nick. He tells him everyone is upstairs trying to get some sleep and they go over the news about Chance and Abby being in a really dark place earlier. They talked her out of going to Spain, but reality is setting in and they’ll have to help her through this. Nick says they’ll make sure she gets everything she needs. Abby comes down the stairs and hugs Nick. Devon takes off. Abby tells Nick she’s all talked out, so he just assures her he’s there. She says there is something he can do — distract her. She asks about the weddings in Italy, so Nick tells her about Summer forgetting her bouquet and having to go back and get it, which was cute. Victoria’s wedding was a five-star Newman event. Nick sighs and suggests they get out of there and take Dominic for a walk.
At the penthouse, Amanda asks Michael if he thinks her grandfather is one step closer to being convicted after today. Michael was pleased with her testimony. Amanda had to work hard to maintain a façade of control. They flash to her on the stand testifying that she has reason to believe Sutton had her father killed and explaining why her grandfather saw him as a threat to his political career. Amanda says it was cathartic. Michael appreciates how she cut the legs out from Sutton’s attorney. They share a laugh before flashing to Amanda testifying about Sutton’s visit to her right before the trial. Amanda hopes her father was looking down and watching. Michael assures her she did him proud.
Devon joins Amanda at the penthouse and asks to hear all about the trial. She relays that Michael thinks her testimony was a success, though it was more emotionally draining than she expected. She flashes to describing how Sutton Ames had his grandbabies given away because they were an embarrassment and killing their father so the secret wouldn’t come out. He later had his daughter take the fall for him — he’ll do whatever it takes to protect himself, everyone else be damned. Amanda tells Devon she won’t step foot in the courtroom again until the verdict is read. Imani feels the same way, and Naya stayed away.
Talk turns to Abby, and Devon relays that she’s not good and he thinks things are going to get worse. Amanda thinks Abby is lucky she has him and other people looking out for her. Devon sees a lot of red flags in her behavior and doesn’t know how long it will take for her to get through it. He admits, “I don’t think the Chancellor Estate is the best place for Dominic right now.” Amanda thinks it would be a difficult conversation to broach the subject of taking him out of the house. “How can I help?” Devon tells her she’s helping by just being there supporting him. They embrace and kiss. After going upstairs to have sex, they revisit his idea to take Dominic. Amanda doesn’t think it’s her place to weigh in. He’s asking her. Amanda feels it’s delicate and suggests he keep listening to Abby, but at the end of the day, Dominic needs someone to advocate for him. Devon tells Amanda he loves her, they kiss, and he leaves. Once alone, Amanda gets a text from Phyllis, who needs a friend.
At the park, Nick yammers until Abby announces that Chance proposed to her there. He suggests they go someplace else, but she wants to be close to the memories. She recalls Chance getting down on one knee and promising to love her forever. Dominic cries, but Abby doesn’t attend to him. Nick picks up the baby and assures him everything will be okay.
Chloe and Sally walk into Crimson Lights, where Michael curtly says, “Sally.” Sally walks away and Chloe and Michael discuss dinner later. Chloe rejoins Sally, who can’t believe Lauren’s invited her to dinner while she’s still frozen out. She’s never on the receiving end of forgiveness. Chloe’s had it with her self-pity and tells her to give it a rest. She reminds Sally that she and Lauren are family, which makes it different. She’s been where Sally is now and has run the gamut on causing trouble and made a decision to stop. “That is the key.” Sally insists she has to, but Chloe continues and tells her to remember what she has to lose if she doesn’t stop playing games and to stop blaming others for situations she got herself into.
At Society, Jack flashes to Phyllis holding his arm and leaning her head on his shoulder in Italy, and him telling her he still loves her at the Abbott mansion. He remembers Phyllis saying she loves him too at the hotel. He contemplates calling her, but thinks the better of it.
At Grand Phoenix, Phyllis thanks Amanda for coming and asks about her testimony. Phyllis admits she’s worried her friendship with Jack has prevented her from opening up to Nick. She shares that Nick made accusations about them. He was right that more was going on, but not in the way Amanda’s thinking. There was a barrier between her and Nick, so she kept turning to Jack. Amanda opines that it’s easier to open up to a friend than a lover. She asks about the dynamic between the three of them. Phyllis explains she was with Jack and cheated on him with Nick. “It was a while ago.” She got pregnant with Summer and didn’t know if she was Jack’s or Nick’s. Amanda doesn’t know the missing details, but she thinks Phyllis has a deep connection with Jack. “Have you considered the possibility that Jack is more than a friend to you? Maybe you’ve never fully gotten over him.”
Devon arrives at the Chancellor mansion as Abby and Nick return from the park. When Abby takes Dominic to change him, Nick tells Devon he sees why he’s concerned — he is too. When she got preoccupied thinking about Chance at the park she didn’t even hear Dominic crying!
