Adam Does the Unthinkable After Elena Delivers Devastating News About Chelsea

At home, Sharon, Rey, Mariah and Arturo finish breakfast and reflect on the perfect wedding and honeymooning in Miami. Mariah’s jealous they’ll be getting beach time, and Arturo offers for them to spend time with their nephew before expressing his happiness that Sharon’s a part of their family. Before they go to the airport, Arturo has to say goodbye to Lola and Sharon has things to see to at Crimson Lights.

Adam jolts awake on his sofa, grimaces, then calls the hospital and asks to speak to Elena.

In the suite, Nick teases he’s worn out still from last night. He’s getting used to waking up with her in his arms. Phyllis wonders what he means — did watching Rey and Sharon say, “I do” make him want to say “I do?” Nick doesn’t think they should get married again because he wants their future to last forever and be full of passion and fun; the conventional route didn’t work for them. Phyllis laughs off his response and insists she’s in agreement. They don’t need a piece of paper and this is the best it’s ever been between them. After, Phyllis fills him in on running into Adam at Sharon’s wedding. Nick wonders if he planned to stop it and Phyllis’ presence was the reason it didn’t end in disaster.

Adam arrives at the hospital and wants to see Chelsea. Elena advises him to brace himself as she explains the hemorrhage from Chelsea’s aneurysm bursting had already done damage when they went in; she had a stroke, is immobile on her right side, and cannot speak. Adam breathes rapidly as it sinks in and Elena continues that it may or may not be temporary. She is unconscious and Adam can’t see her now due to risk of infection.

Faith arrives at home, pops a mint, and enters. Mariah fills her in on the morning and Faith asks why she’s talking so loud. Mariah wonders if she’s alright and Faith claims she’s just tired. Rey appears, and he and Mariah leave. Faith gets a text from Jordan, assures her they didn’t suspect anything, but doesn’t respond when the girl wants to party again tonight.

At Crimson Lights, Sharon takes Elena and Nate’s coffee orders and dishes on her wedding. Once alone, Elena and Nate discuss Chelsea. They marvel at how fast life can change. Elena confides that Adam’s a wreck. Sharon returns in time to hear that Chelsea’s lying in the hospital unconscious with no guarantee of a future.

Rey arrives at the coffee house to find Sharon flustered. She tells him what she heard about Chelsea, and worries Adam must be devastated. Rey senses she wants his blessing to reach out to Adam and is concerned how he might react considering she’s not supposed to have this information. Sharon decides she won’t intrude — they need to get to Miami.

On the patio, Nate and Elena’s conversation turns to her bolting from the hotel room. Elena’s done some soul-searching and would like to continue seeing him.

At the hospital, Adam tries to get the Chief of Surgery on the phone as well as various specialists he knows, but no one will help. After, he flashes to Chelsea telling him the fall in the elevator caused the situation. Following a moment of contemplation, he calls Victor and leaves a voicemail saying he needs to talk to him.

Elena returns to the hospital and urges Adam to adjust his expectations when he exclaims that Chelsea needs to get back to how she used to be. She’ll be there for five – 10 days and they hope therapy will help. Adam feels helpless. Elena presses him to go home and rest.

At home, Sharon and Rey tell Faith how much they’ll miss her. Sharon asks about the sleepover and Jordan. Faith mentions she’s having people over later. Sharon suggests she have Jordan over there before she heads to her dad’s. Mariah reappears with a gift for Sharon and Rey, who finally depart, then tells Faith she’s got her all to herself today. Faith gets an impatient text from Jordan wondering if she’s coming or not. Mariah teases Faith about all the fun stuff they could do with Sharon gone and is taken aback when Faith says she’s wiped and wants to go to her dad’s. Faith then informs Jordan she’s busy with family crap and can’t make it.

In the Grand Phoenix lobby, Nick notes Phyllis seems quite happy. She’s pleased they’re not getting married and that he’s not micro-managing how she’s going to pay him back. Nick wonders how nervous he should be. She books a block of rooms, then assures Nick she won’t rob a bank or anything — she won’t do anything stupid to put the hotel in jeopardy.

Sharon and Rey arrive in the hotel lobby where awkwardness ensues when Phyllis exclaims about the wedding going off without a hitch and points out she made herself scarce due to their history with weddings.

When Rey goes to find Arturo at the hotel, Nick questions Sharon not seeming very excited about her honeymoon. She is, but wonders if they’ve heard anything about Chelsea, who’s in the hospital — apparently Adam found her unconscious last night. Phyllis realizes Adam was at Sharon’s wedding when it happened. After Sharon walks away, Phyllis remarks to Nick that Adam must feel so guilty — if he hadn’t been at Sharon’s wedding he might have been there to help Chelsea.

At home, Adam takes a call from Connor and keeps the truth about Chelsea’s condition from him. He assures the kid they’ll come and see him as soon as his mom is better and disconnects. Adam then tosses the contents off the coffee table in frustration.
