The Daytime Emmy pre-nominations have been announced, so it’s time for to tell you which The Young and the Restless actors and actresses put themselves up for a nomination for 2009, and to look at the highlights for their characters! The Y&R pre-noms are as follows:

Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) and Doug Davidson (Paul Williams) in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor. For Outstanding Lead Actress it’s a trio – Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers Abbott Newman), and Sharon Case (Sharon Collins Newman Abbott). In the Outstanding Supporting Actor group, Billy Miller (Billy Abbott) and Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher) submitted, as did Stacy Haiduk (Patty Williams) and Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe Mitchell Abbott) for Outstanding Supporting Actress! For Outstanding Younger Actors and Actresses, it is Christel Khalil (Lily Winters Ashby) and Emily O’Brien (Jana Fisher), as well as Bryton (Devon Hamilton) and Kevin Schmidt (Noah Newman). Here’s what their characters got up to:

Jack Abbott: Who could forget the dramatic showdown with Jack/Patty/Victor, or the emotionally-charged scenes as Jack watched his sister lose her daughter Colleen in the hospital.

Paul Williams: Paul not only had his heart broken by Nikki, but dealt with the devastating knowledge that his sister Patty was back in town and had hurt many people.

Katherine Chancellor: Katherine took her life back in 2009 after it was assumed she had died. Also, she fell in love with Patrick Murphy, and discovered the truth about her relationship with Jill.

Phyllis Summers Abbott Newman: Phyllis suffered through Nick’s return to his ex, Sharon, and her daughter’s near-death.

Sharon Collins Newman Abbott: Sharon struggled with the demise of her marriage to Jack, and faced her true feelings for Nick. She also had a mental breakdown.
