Young & Restless Moppet Suffers a Loss to Which We Can All Relate: ‘Rest in Peace, Sweet Boy’
Friday, December 4th, 2020

Judah Mackey started December on the saddest of notes.
Man, we sure hope Santa Claus has something special in store for The Young and the Restless’ Judah Mackey, who plays Adam and Chelsea’s son, Connor. The poor kid began the holiday season with a terrible loss.
“We said goodbye to our dog Clyde today,” read a December 1 post from his parent-run Twitter account. “He was our best buddy and lived 16 and a half happy years.”

Though of course saddened to lose their four-legged family member, Mackey was “thankful for the time we had together.
“His warm cuddles will be missed,” he added. “Rest in peace, sweet boy.”

At least the rising star has a few things in the works to distract him from his heartache. On December 4, Apple TV+ premiered Stillwater, the new animated series in which his character lives next door to a panda named… well, his name is the title of the show. You can listen for Mackey in the trailer below.
The youngster is also likely to appear in Season 2 of Apple TV+’s The Morning Show since Steve Carell, who plays his father, has signed on to return as disgraced anchor Mitch Kessler. (Our sister site TVLine has all the details.)
Ironically, on The Young and the Restless, Connor was allowed by his parents to adopt not a dog but a sweet stray cat. Here’s hoping that his portrayer and his family will one day be able to add a new furry friend to their household.
In the meantime, cheer yourself up by taking a peek at a photo gallery that will leave you seeing double — it’s a collection of eye-popping images of soap stars and their real-life doppelgangers.

The next time Hollywood reboots the hit 1970s TV series Charlie’s Angels — and c’mon, you know it’s going to! — the powers that be should look no further than Young & Restless’ Chelsea Lawson to rock the halo that once rested atop the head of another classic beauty, the one who played Kelly Garrett.

The powers that be had better keep the Bold & Beautiful star who plays Zende Forrester on speed-dial. Thanks to his delicate features and that mischievous gleam in his eye, when the time comes to make a movie about Prince’s life, the soap hottie would be perfectly cast as the music icon who gave us “When Doves Cry,” “Kiss,” “1999” and so. Many. More.

That the General Hospital Emmy winner who plays Carly Corinthos has a Mini-Me in the ingenue who plays her daughter, Josslyn, is almost no surprise; of course, they should look alike. But more surprising is the astonishing resemblance between Wright and the alum who played her sister… that is, her sister-in-law, Courtney Matthews.

It isn’t just their surnames that are similar. Look at those pictures — the blue-eyed, brown-haired heartthrobs have, erm, everything in common except for their soap roles: do-gooder Shawn Brady on Days of Our Lives and literal lady killer Ben Reade on Guiding Light.

Truth be told, until the weird and wonderful stretch in 2010 when The Young and the Restless’ Nikki Newman crossed over to the dark side — at least with her hair color — we’d never noticed that holy smoke! She couldn’t look more like the silver-screen golden girl if they’d been separated at birth.

“I’m probs super late to this observation,” General Hospital ingenue Eden McCoy tweeted in December of 2020, “but whoa, [they] could be twins.” Indeed, they could. The Bold & Beautiful Emmy winner who plays Liam has in common with the Guardians of the Galaxy star not only a faceful of scruff but a similarly irresistible boyish charm.

If Guiding Light’s powers that be had said in 1993 that they wanted an actress like the one who plays Felicia Jones on General Hospital to bring to life Lucy Cooper, they couldn’t have done any better than to recruit Satra, who so resembles the ABC soap legend that some viewers thought that they’d tuned in to the wrong channel.

With his slicked-back hairdo and that go-for-broke look in his eyes, Philip Kiriakis’ portrayer on Days of Our Lives could pass for a Mini-Me of Gordon Gekko, the legendarily avaricious suit that Michael Douglas played in the big-screen blockbuster Wall Street.

Blonde hair? Check. Dreamy gaze? Check. Enviably perfect features? Check. The Young & Restless Emmy winner — yet another Sharon on the show, Sharon Newman — has features so similar to those of the Valley of the Dolls beauty that she could pass for her mirror image.

General Hospital hit the nail on the head when it cast these two as half brothers Jason Morgan and A.J. Quartermaine — to the point that, during the former’s last break from the daytime drama, rumors circulated that the latter was going to be stepping into his ex-castmate’s role.

Until you evaluate their lovely features side by side, you don’t really see it, do you? But once you have, you can’t unsee it: Days of Our Lives’ Gwen Rizczech is a dead ringer for Winona Ryder, the ’80s icon who’s gone on to battle inter-dimensional beasties on Netflix’s hit, Stranger Things.

This is more than a Who Wore It Best? set of photos, it’s a case of history repeating itself, delivering unto us via Young & Restless’ Kyle Abbott another heartthrob whose handsomeness and talent are rivaled only by his ability to rock a leather jacket and stand around like a rebel without a cause.

Who’s behind those Foster Grants? Hard to say for sure when the glasses’ wearers are the new and the original Taylor Forresters of Bold & Beautiful fame. Not only are they both gorgeous, but as you can see, they’re experts at throwing shade… s.

We’d have said that the General Hospital vet who’s played Mac Scorpio since 1991 was one of a kind… if we hadn’t stumbled across this photo of his doppelgänger, the late Cover Up heartthrob who was on his way to becoming a megastar in the ’80s when he accidentally killed himself on the set with a gun loaded with blanks. Wow, that got dark fast. Moving on…

The resemblance between the soap icon and the big-screen superstar is the stuff of legend. After Zimmer replaced Turner as Nola Aldrich on NBC’s The Doctors — who knew? — she also appeared in 1981’s Body Heat as — wait for it — a woman who was essentially a doppelgänger for Turner’s sinister seductress.

So great is the resemblance between these two that if The Young and the Restless hadn’t announced that “The role of Fenmore Baldwin is now being played by… ” when Tinker took over, the audience might never have noticed that a switch had been made.

Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful could tell ya: Ridge Forrester has always had a type, and that type is blonde knockouts like first wife Caroline Spencer and her mirror image, his last latest wife Brooke Logan.

From the intense gaze and slicked-back hair to the ring on his finger, for Pete’s sake, the Daytime Emmy winner who plays Mob boss Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital is a dead ringer for the Oscar winner who played Michael Corleone in the Godfather movies. Heck, Sonny’s real name is even Michael!

C’mon, admit it — when you look at these photos of Days of Our Lives’ Abigail DiMera and a young Spacek, you can totally imagine the former playing the latter’s iconic role of telekinetic teenager Carrie White in… well, you know, Carrie. (Miller would undoubtedly also have made a fine Coal Miner’s Daughter.)

The Young and the Restless didn’t have to flash any “next generation” alerts when the torch was passed from Nick and Sharon Newman to his daughter, Summer, and her beau-of-the-moment Theo Vanderway. We got it.

It’s not the stunningly angular cheekbones or the sly smile that drives home so hard the resemblance between Alexis Davis’ portrayer on General Hospital and the big-screen legend, it’s the light that shines from both of their eyes that suggests that there’s not an icepick in the world that’s as sharp as their minds.

Maybe it’s just the expression that says, “Seen it all, and wished I hadn’t.” But we can’t shake the feeling that Days of Our Lives’ Necktie Killer Ben Weston would get Riverdale’s brooding Jughead Jones in a way that most people don’t.

Given how close the real-life gal pals are, we knew that the General Hospital castmates (as Maxie Jones and Lulu Spencer) had a lot in common. But until we examined their beautiful photos side by side, we didn’t realize that the similarities included their appearance.

OK, technically, we aren’t the first — or probably even the 101st — to notice that the actor who was Clarke Garrison on The Bold and the Beautiful could easily pass for big-screen big deal Rock Hudson: He did, after all, play the movie star in Liz: The Elizabeth Taylor Story.

Consider this the best kind of “seeing red”: The Emmy winner who plays Mariah Copeland on The Young and the Restless looks enough like the Mad Men and Good Girls vet that they’d be well-cast as sisters.

With those impossibly perfect cheekbones and the deep gaze that all teenage dreams possess, the General Hospital scene stealer who brings Spencer Cassadine to life appears to have been cut from the same cloth as Tom Cruise circa Risky Business.

Especially in their enviably lush, wavy hair, you can see the resemblance between Young & Restless’ former and current Chance Chancellors. But if you ask us, the actor Floyd really resembles is the one who used to play Cole Howard.

Like mother, very much like daughter. Bold & Beautiful did such a great job finding the perfect Steffy Forrester that it was hard to believe that she didn’t share DNA with Taylor’s former portrayer.

Maybe it’s just because we’ve never seen anyone swill a martini like the Oscar winner till West came along and started bagging Emmys for her work as Ava Jerome on General Hospital. But we can’t shake the feeling that there’s a kinship between the daytime goddess and the movie star who is her cineplex counterpart.

When the original Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless took a break from the CBS soap in 1988, execs pulled off a fairly seamless transition to her replacement… by casting a cater waitress who looked so much like her predecessor that many a viewer didn’t even realize that a change had taken place.
