Young & Restless’ Donny Boaz Reveals the First Thing He Wanted to See After Laser Eye Surgery

Young and Restless actor can see clearly now.
The actor who plays Young and Restless’ Phillip ‘Chance’ Chancellor IV is a relative newcomer to the soap opera, having joined the cast in November 2019, and something viewers may not have known about Donny Boaz is that he had issues with his vision. In a post on Instagram, in which he revealed that he had undergone laser eye surgery to correct his vision, the actor explained, “I have been wearing glasses and contacts since I was 8 years old.” Boaz, a proud uncle, went on to say that the first thing he wanted to see with his new clear vision was a certain special someone perform. He enthused, “First thing I wanted to see, was my #beautiful #niece Makenzie, #dance in her very first #recital.” He shared a photo from the event with the adorable girl.
In a subsequent post, the Young and Restless actor explained that he had taken the opportunity at Christmas to invest in Mackenzie’s future, and the youngster chose dance lessons. “I am very proud to say, I was able to invest into her dance future.”
Boaz, who has over a dozen projects in the works outside of Young and Restless, underwent laser vision correction, a type of refractive surgery for the correction of myopia, hyperopia, and/or astigmatism. During the surgery, an eye surgeon creates a flap in the cornea, which is the transparent, dome-shaped surface of the eye that accounts for a large part of the eye’s bending or refracting power. Then the surgeon uses a laser to reshape the cornea, which corrects the refraction problems in the eye. Although a patient’s eyes may feel irritated, burn, itch, or feel like there is something in them in the hours following the procedure, and there may be blurring or eye-watering, recovery time is short and symptoms typically resolve within a few days.
