Young and Restless actress shares her truth on social media.

Congratulations to Young and Restless actress Camryn Grimes, who took a big step on social media by coming out as a bisexual woman in real life. Grimes, who plays Mariah Copeland, a character in a lesbian relationship on the soap opera, had taken to Twitter to tease that she would love to be CW’s new Batwoman after news broke that actress Ruby Rose had left the lead role. Variety’s sources reported that the long hours on set weren’t working for Rose, so it was decided between her and the network and studio, Warner Bros. Television, to part ways. Given the show centers on Kate Kane, who is Bruce Wayne’s cousin, and an out lesbian, who protects Gotham City under the guise of Batwoman, one of Grimes’ followers replied to the post and said, “As AMAZING as this would be and as much as I support this idea, I think they’re looking for an out LGBT actress for the role.” To which the actress simply replied, “I’m bisexual.”

Following Grimes’ admission, another follower asked, “Did you just… come out?!! Look very it!!! Proud!!!” The Young and Restless actress confirmed, “Yea, pretty sure I did. Lol.” She then went on to explain, “My bf is bisexual and it was during conversations with him that it just clicked. Honestly feel stupid I didn’t come to the conclusion sooner lol.”

More: Why Gloria Fisher should return to Y&R

While we can totally see Camryn Grimes starring in CW’s Batwoman, we certainly wouldn’t want her to leave Young and Restless where her character is in a front-burner romance with Cait Fairbanks’ Tessa Porter, having just survived a cheating scandal. The actress is a mainstay on the CBS soap opera where she started in 1997 as Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) daughter, Cassie Newman, and continued appearing in visions after the character died. She returned permanently in 2014 as Cassie’s long lost twin sister, Mariah Copeland.
