Young and Restless actor, his wife, and children all contracted the viral illness.

Actor Jordi Vilasuso, who plays steadfast police officer Rey Rosales on Young and the Restless, took to social media to share his family’s health journey with followers after he, his wife, and two daughters contracted the frightening viral illness spreading around the world. Soaps.com has the post below, in which Vilasuso states, “We debated sharing this, but finally decided to in the hope of possibly being a source of information or comfort to someone who might be in a similar situation.”

The post contains a video in which the actor is joined by his wife, Kaitlin Vilasuso, and the couple explain that for the last three weeks all four members of the family have been sick after being exposed to a friend who was a carrier. Vilasuso’s wife began showing symptoms first, and had trouble breathing, with the actor a day behind her and experiencing a high temperature and fatigue. Their children, Riley and Everly, became ill after them, a realization they described as “scary.” Both Vilasuso and Kaitlin lost their sense of taste and smell for about a week and agreed it was “very strange.” The couple elaborated that they hadn’t been out of the house since the day they were exposed, which was relieving as they hadn’t spread it to anyone else, and talked about the psychological aspect of knowing you had contracted the illness and wondering how sick you would get and whether you would end up having to be hospitalized. Kaitlin had enough difficulty breathing that she required an inhaler, which helped.

We are beyond grateful that, even in isolation, we all have each other.”
