Interview: Melissa Ordway, Hunter King and Soap Stars at Bloom Summit
Bold and Beautiful & Young and Restless actors offer advice on healthy living.
A few soap opera stars stopped by the Bloom Summit on June 1 for a day of health and pampering. The 2nd annual wellness and beauty retreat for celebrities, influencers and guests was a day-long opportunity for wellness education and interacting with brands promoting a “non-toxic lifestyle.” The Young and the Restless’ Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman), Hunter King (Summer Newman) and Kate Linder (Esther), as well as The Bold and the Beautiful’s Katrina Bowden (Flo Fulton) were interviewed at the event about their own healthy lifestyles. Soaps.com curated a few responses from the day below.
On why she attended the event, Melissa Ordway said, “I just love everything Bloom is doing and all the health and wellness awareness is very important right now. I have two girls so I try to keep myself as healthy as possible because if I’m sick I can’t be a good mom, so I love everything that Bloom is doing here today.” When asked her advice on a healthy lifestyle Ordway responded, “I think just finding things you love to do. I’m not a big workout class person but I love doing things with my family like hiking and just finding activities you enjoy, that you are going to be excited about going to do … Just being active and doing things you love.”
Hunter King’s tips for a healthy lifestyle included, “You just gotta work out. Try to stay active. I try to work out five, six days a week, drink a lot of water and I truly believe that everyone should go to therapy because no matter how healthy your body is, if your mind’s not healthy then it’s really hard to keep the two intact and keep everything moving and happy. You have to take care of your mind first.”
Katrina Bowden’s response, when asked about what she does to keep healthy, was, “I eat well. That’s the number one thing. I cook a lot so I know what’s in my food, and I make sure I get outside. I like to exercise outdoors and run. I just put that first. If you make that a priority, you’re more likely to stick with it.” If Bowden could only have one food her whole life, her healthy choice would be avocadoes while her unhealthy choice is French fries.
Of attending the event, Kate Linder said, “It’s all about health and wellness and it’s really important because if you’re not well and healthy on the inside it doesn’t really matter what you do on the outside … it all goes together and I think sometimes people forget about that.” When asked what the biggest challenge in her life was, Linder talked about the passing of her husband. However, she noted that you have to make yourself keep going and show up for things, even when you don’t want to.
