Kristoff St. John Supports Mental Health, Hosts Youth Acting Class
Young and Restless actor gives back.
Soaps.com has learned that Young and the Restless actor Kristoff St. John, who plays Genoa City’s Neil Winters, is set to host a first-time beginner’s acting class for youth tomorrow, November 9. St. John’s ex-wife, Mia St. John, took to Twitter to share the news, and posted, “Two time #Emmy Award Winning @kristoffstjohn1 of @yandr_cbs Will be hosting a first time beginners acting class for our youth at #Danielsplace in Santa Monica this Friday. Daniels place serves our #homeless youth suffering #mentalhealth issues or #addiction.”
Mental health issues hit close to home for Kristoff and Mia St. John, as their son, Julian St. John, died at age 24 in 2015 while being treated for mental illness at La Casa Psychiatric Health Facility in Long Beach, and the St. Johns later filed a wrongful death suit against the facility for allegedly falsifying records and failing to check on their son, who committed suicide.
The actor also struggled with his own mental health following the devastating loss, and in 2017, St. John was hospitalized for a psych evaluation. Since then, the actor has returned to Y&R as Neil Winters, who recently enjoyed a brief rekindling of his relationship with Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). Additionally, St. John announced his engagement to Russian model, Kseniya, and opened a Paleo restaurant.
Daniel’s Place serves as a central point for the needs of individuals experiencing the initial ‘first break’, as well as young adults previously diagnosed with a mental health issue and offers support for their families. It is located at 1619 Santa Monica Blvd, Santa Monica, California. For further information call 310-392-5855.
