Daytime actress is Young and Restless. readers may be surprised to hear that Young and Restless actress, Christel Khalil, who plays Lily Winters Ashby, has made the decision to switch from contract to recurring status with the show. Khalil took to her Instagram account to let her fans and followers be the first to know. She posted a photo of herself with the caption, “Hello Lovelies! I wanted you to be the first to know that if you see less of me on @youngandrestlesscbs , it’s because I have decided to switch from Y&R full time to recurring status. That means I’m not leaving, just ready (after 16 amazing years playing Lily) to explore new things! I will continue to be a proud member of the Y&R family and look forward to further adventures playing Lily. Thank you for all the love and support over the years! xoxo Christel.”

The news of the actress’ status change comes on the heels of Mishael Morgan’s controversial exit as Hilary Curtis, and Eileen Davidson’s decision to leave Y&R and her role of Ashley Abbott.

Khalil debuted on Y&R back in 2002 when she showed up with her mother Drucilla (Victoria Rowell) on Neil’s (Kristoff St. John) doorstep. Dru and Lily had been in Paris, and Dru told Neil their 14 year old needed her father as she’d developed a smart mouth. It wasn’t long until Lily got mixed up with Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart), who she met on the Internet, and got into trouble.

Currently, Lily is married to Cane (Daniel Goddard), has two teens of her own, and runs a business. It sounds stable, but Lily is also about to face charges of vehicular homicide for the deaths of Hilary and her baby in a car accident, and may go to prison, which could provide the premise for Khalil to scale back her appearances and pursue other acting gigs. wishes Christel Khalil well as she embarks on this new chapter in her life.
