Young and the Restless actor’s new venture.

Soaps.com readers will be interested to hear what The Young and the Restless’ Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters) has been up to outside of the soap. St. John, who had been absent from Instagram for a time, returned with a video announcement that he had purchased a restaurant. The actor, who previously owned the Tangerine Café in Woodland Hills, California, shared that he had bought a new establishment next to the Television Academy in North Hollywood. It’s called Paleo Diner Healthy Kitchen, and specializes in paleo, vegetarian and vegan dishes. In the clip, St. John conducts a tour, and greets an employee named Sierra, as he enters his new restaurant, which is housed inside a diner car built in 1926. He then proceeds past the seating area to the kitchen, where he and another staff member, Willie, explain that the establishment’s name had been changed to Paleo Diner Healthy Kitchen since the previous ownership. St. John concludes the video by asking viewers to ‘help a brother out’ by patronizing Healthy Kitchen, which he bills in the post’s caption as having ‘A Little Somethin’ For Everyone’.

The Paleo Diner Healthy Kitchen boasts four stars on Yelp. A paleo diet sticks to basics like meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, healthy fats and oils, and avoids processed foods, sugar, soft drinks, grains, most dairy products, legumes, artificial sweeteners, vegetable oils, margarine and trans fats. The establishment’s menu as seen on their Facebook page reiterates they are ‘a paleo inspired diner with gluten-free, vegetarian, and primal options’, and explains that they only use rice oil in the fryers, and serve organic and local produce when possible. Menu highlights include a brussel sprouts appetizer with a raspberry glaze, build-your-own bowls featuring protein bases such as ground bison meat and wild Alaskan Coho salmon, as well as burgers, sandwiches and gluten-free wraps. Food Network, TLC, and Travel Channel’s Kevin Roberts, also known as ‘The Food Dude’, is listed as the executive chef.

This is exciting and positive news for St. John, who returned to Y&R in April after having been hospitalized for a mental evaluation in October 2017 related to the tragic death of the actor’s son, Julian in 2014 at age 24, after which St. John launched a wrongful death lawsuit along with his ex-wife, Mia St. John, against the nurses and staff at La Casa Psychiatric Health Facility in Long Beach, where their son was a patient when he died. St. John’s character, Neil, is currently enjoying a burgeoning onscreen romance with former flame, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson).

Soaps.com wishes Kristoff St. John all the best with his delicious-sounding new project. Paleo Diner/Healthy Kitchen is located at 5230 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood, California, for those lucky enough to be in the area or able to visit.
