JT Hellstrom’s return from the dead.

Thad Luckinbill’s Young and the Restless character’s shocking murder and now JT’s return from the dead on Y&R has surprised viewers and readers of The show’s Executive Producer and Head Writer Mal Young was interviewed by Soap Opera Digest on what is ahead for JT, and how his return was kept secret.

JT sets up a meeting with Victor via text, and Victor is determined to settle the score with the man that attacked his daughter and tried to kill him twice. During the episode Young teases, “We see an anonymous hand going into a safe and removing a gun, I’m not telling you whose hand that is, but it could be Victor’s, could be JT’s, or could it be someone else’s?” Victor arrives at the predetermined meeting place, a dark, foggy alley where a figure hiding his face with a hoodie appears. The figure neither moves nor speaks, until he reaches his hand in his pocket. Victor does the same. But is the figure JT? There is speculation it may be Kyle Abbott posing as JT, or even Adam Newman back from the dead. Young says, “My job is to keep things twisting and turning so that they think, ‘I never saw that coming.'”

Whoever the figure is, Young confirms that Luckinbill is back to reprise JT. Luckinbill’s career has made a full time return difficult, but the actor worked with Young to bring JT back and tell this story. The character’s return from the dead was a surprise, and Young reveals, “We quietly just brought him in the back door. Very, very few people know the outcome of this story and where it is going. Thad didn’t know what I was really doing.” Young admits that even Luckinbill doesn’t want to know all the details because like viewers he is enjoying the twists and turns. As for where things are headed, Young reveals that viewers are currently watching, “The end of Chapter 2, but there’s Chapters 3 and 4 to come.”
