Working with family on the set.

Updated May 1 2020: The Young and the Restless’ Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) took to social media to share the news that his son’s movie, Den of Thieves, in which he has a cameo appearance, debuts on Netflix today. The actor shared a clip on his Twitter and enthused that the film tells a riveting story.

On March 13, 2017, The Young and the Restless Eric Braeden, who plays Genoa City tycoon Victor Newman, was set to appear in a cameo role in the upcoming film Den of Thieves, and Soaps.com learned that the actor has someone very close to him on the set – his son! Christian Gudegast, Braeden’s real-life son, is the movie’s director, and according to the actor’s tweets he was very impressed with his offspring’s skill and professionalism. Gudegast is also credited with writing the screenplay for the film, which surrounds the story of a thief who becomes trapped between two sets of criminals while planning a bank heist. The movie stars Gerard Butler (P.S. I Love You, Olympus Has Fallen), Pablo Schreiber (The Manchurian Candidate, Lords of Dogtown), rap artist/actor 50 Cent (Spy, Real Steel), and O’Shea Jackson (Straight Outta Compton).

Despite playing Y&R’s Victor Newman since 1980, the actor is no stranger to films, as Braeden starred in The Man Who Came Back, a civil war era film in 2008, and there was also his well-known appearance as wealthy John Jacob Astor in the blockbuster movie, Titanic. Prior to joining daytime television, Braeden had roles in numerous television series and movies such as The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Rat Patrol, Escape from the Planet of the Apes, Gunsmoke, and Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo. Currently, Braeden is promoting his memoir, I’ll Be Damned, and in an ‘art imitates life’ twist, his onscreen persona, Victor Newman, has also decided to write the story of his tumultuous life on Y&R.
