In this week’s “The Young and the Restless” Throwback Thursday Soaps.com takes readers back to 1998/1999 when Jack Abbott and Brad Carlton tried to one up Victor Newman…

Jack is irked with Victor for insinuating himself into his and Phyllis’ lives yet again by acting as her savior. Years ago, his revenge set him after Victor for a whole other reason, business. Victor was declared dead after a plane crash in New Mexico, leaving Jack the perfect opportunity to take over Newman Enterprises with his on-again off-again rival Brad. Though Jack and Brad often disagreed throughout the process the men worked together, fudged some numbers and soon had the Board of Directors on their side and Newman in their control.

The time came when Victor returned to Genoa City very much alive. Jack jumped at the chance to regain his family’s company, Jabot Cosmetics, by offering to give Victor back Newman in exchange for Jabot. Victor refused to go down easily and forced Jack to buy back Jabot, leaving Brash & Sassy with Newman. Jack knew it would be the safest way for him to bring the family company home and agreed. However, even pooling all of the Abbott’s money together hadn’t been enough.
