The Young And The Restless Wins Five Daytime Emmy Awards
Soaps.com built up to the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards all last week in our coverage section, and last night we were there to live-blog and live-tweet about the disastrous red carpet social media hosts, the soap stars’ incredible Emmy outfits, and of course the talented and deserving winners. Soaps.com followed up with video interviews from the event and even more coverage after the fact. It was certainly a night to remember!
“The Young and the Restless” had impressive results, with the show winning for Outstanding Directing Team, Outstanding Drama Series, and Outstanding Special Class Special for the Jeanne Cooper Tribute episode. Former cast members, Billy Miller (ex-Billy), Liz Hendrickson (ex-Chloe), and Michelle Stafford (ex-Phyllis, Nina, “General Hospital) were all there for the festivities, along with the newest cast member, Burgess Jenkins, who debuts as Billy on June 24.
Hunter King, Genoa City’s Summer, took home the Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress, while Amelia Heinle received the Outstanding Supporting Actress gold for her portrayal of Victoria. Her acceptance speech was particularly moving as she mentioned her sister, who is fighting cancer. Finally, “Y&R” alum Billy Miller won in the Outstanding Lead Actor category for his performance as Billy Abbott. Doug Davidson (Paul) tweeted this picture of Miller with his fellow Genoa City nominees:
