Empty promises.

In this week’s “The Young And The Restless” Throwback Thursday Soaps.com takes readers back to 1989 when Esther Valentine left her job at the Chancellor Estate to go work for Nina Webster Chancellor…

She might not have the best of luck in the love department, or a Valentine’s Day date this year, but her last name will always connect her to the upcoming holiday. Esther was a loyal employee to Katherine Chancellor but ended up leaving her longtime job to go work as a nanny for Nina, who’d became very rich after everyone thought Phillip had died. Not only did the move allow Esther to continue to bond with baby Phillip, Nina also made various promises to her.

Esther was happy to no longer have to wear a uniform and was excited that Nina was going to become more of a companion rather than an employer and help her find a man. Nina took Esther out of her apartment, where she met a plumber named Tiny. Esther was so smitten and ended up having a one-night stand with him. Though Esther believed what they shared was love at first sight, Tiny never contacted her again. To make matters worse, Nina wasn’t living up to the promises she’d made, so Esther decided to put the maid uniform back on and ask Katherine for her old job back.
