Today, Thursday December 12, “The Young and the Restless” marked its 1300 consecutive week, 25 years, as the #1 Daytime drama according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week that ended December 2. The impressive streak began the week of December 26, 1988. This season, Genoa City is pulling in an average of 5.10 million viewers. CBS Daytime’s Senior Vice-President, Angelica McDaniel, said, “I am so proud of the talented cast and crew, past and present, for making ‘The Young and the Restless’ #1 for 25 years. A special thank you to our loyal and passionate fans for helping us reach this incredible milestone.”

Over the years, “Y&R” has tackled a wide range of social issues including alcoholism, teen pregnancy, breast cancer, eating disorders, sexual harassment, AIDS and cyber-bullying, and has filmed on location in numerous places around the world including Bermuda, Nevis, Paris, New Orleans, and Hawaii. It was the first Daytime drama to be broadcast in high definition back in 2001, and aired its 10,000 episode on September 27, 2012.
