The Young and the Restless actress Kate Linder (Esther) has won re-election at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. She functions as a Peer Group Governor and in her own words, “My continued role as a governor will enable me to ensure the Television Academy establishes priorities and strategies to promote viewership of daytime television.” A very important role considering the growing concern over the ability of daytime television to succeed over the long-run. Linder also noted that she “…will continue to promote the televising of the Daytime Emmy Awards, including behind-the-scenes Daytime Emmy recipients.”

The long-time Y&R cast member, who often has viewers in stitches as zany Esther, has made a four-year commitment to the members of the academy to function in her Governor role. Her longer-term vision is to “secure the future and strength of daytime television in the digital age.”

Kate also just took a trip to Cuba on December 1st, where she joined well-known performer Johnny Grant, Victoria’s Secret supermodels, as well as other celebrities for a Hollywood type holiday parade at Guantanamo Bay!

Soaps.com congratulates Kate on her re-election, and thanks her for her tireless efforts on behalf of daytime television! How admirable, also, to fit in time in her busy schedule for a trip to support the troops stationed in Guantanamo Bay!
