Young & Restless’ Mishael Morgan Sets the Record Straight: ‘I Just Wanted to Let the Cat Out of the Bag…’

For months, rumors have been circulating about Mishael Morgan’s status with The Young and the Restless. This week, after something of a milestone day, the actress decided she it was time to fill fans in on exactly what was going on… and what it would mean for Amanda’s future in Genoa City.
“I just wrapped for my last scenes back,” she began an Instagram story taped backstage, “and I just wanted to let the cat out of the bag a little bit.”
She went on to acknowledge that “a lot of people have noticed that my name isn’t on the main credits anymore, and I wanted everybody to know that it was my decision.” In fact, she’d originally made that decision back in December.
“I wanted to take a bit of a step back from the show,” she explained. “I just felt like at this point in my life and this point in my career, I wanted to mix things up a little bit.”
That said, Morgan made it clear that the soap will “always be home,” going on to say, “I have so appreciatd this safe place to land that they have given me so I know that I can be back. They are like family to me, and coming back just reminds me of that.”
Beyond the cast and crew of the show, the actress also wanted to send a shout-out to… well, you. “I’m so appreciative of you guys and all the fans who have supported me along this Young & Restless journey.”
In wrapping up, Morgan indicated that while she was done taping, she wasn’t entirely checking out of the soap. “I’m still going to be recurring, so you’ll still catch me in Genoa City,” she promised, adding that we should also “keep looking out for new things.”
