First Young & Restless revealed via its latest spoilers that Chloe was going to help mom Esther start a new chapter of her life. Now comes word that Sam McMurray has been cast as Dwight, who Soap Opera Digest reports makes a connection with Katherine’s former maid on Monday, May 23.

Adding two and two, we have a sneaking suspicion that lovelorn Esther may finally be getting a romantic interest!

“I love working with” McMurray, Kate Linder told the magazine. “He’s a consummate professional.”

He’s also a prolific one. The actor’s list of TV credits runs the gamut from Kojak to Mom, from The Sopranos to The King of Queens. On the big screen, you’ve probably seen him in Raising Arizona or Addams Family Values. But of course, daytime fans are likeliest to recognize him from his recurring role of smarmy reporter Wes Leonard on Ryan’s Hope in the early 1980s. (He succeeded David “Sledge Hammer” Rasche in the part.)

When recently spoke with McMurray’s new scene partner Linder on the occasion of her 40th anniversary with Young & Restless, she was full of ideas for the next leg of Esther’s journey. “I’ve always thought it would be really interesting if she went to work at maybe Chance Comm or Chancellor Industries or something,” she said, “because people would think that Esther could never do that.”

Linder also held out hope that there might be a little romance in store for Esther, who hasn’t been on a date in… Gee, we can’t remember when, can you? At this point, laughed Linder, “maybe she wouldn’t screw up any relationships.” (Read the full interview here.)
