We’d read the rumors online. But we didn’t believe it until we saw it with our own two eyes. Heck, even then, we weren’t sure what we were seeing!

In the March 23 episode of The Young and the Restless, we got our first look at the woman who was interested in buying Keemo’s house, and to say that her face is familiar would be an understatement: Taylor Jensen is a dead ringer for the late Diane Jenkins, at least when she was played by Susan Walters.

Immediately, we had questions. So. Many. Questions.

Is this the mystery woman who’s been texting Jack? And if so, is Taylor Diane’s twin? Could she really be Diane, aka Jack’s ex, Kyle’s mother and Phyllis’ longtime rival? And if that’s the case… how?!? Diane wasn’t just killed off, she was so very killed off that a whole big murder mystery was built around her demise!

We can’t answer all those questions — yet — but we have gotten confirmation from the show that Walters is indeed playing Diane.

Newer viewers may not remember Diane. But us longtimers recall recall that Alex Donnelley first played the vixen back in 1982, when she was introduced as “the other woman” in Jack’s marriage to poor, clueless Patty. After years on the frontburner — and a marriage to Victor, because who in Genoa City doesn’t marry The Mustache sooner or later? — the schemer was recast with Loving vet Walters, who was subsequently replaced by Maura West between her stints as Carly on As the World Turns and Ava on General Hospital.

As you absorb the shock of Walters’ return, check out our photo gallery that explains why Diane’s return is such a big deal.
