Actor Tyler Johnson took to social media on November 2 to seemingly announce he would be departing the role of Theo Vanderway. Johnson joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in Genoa City in 2019 as a trouble-making friend of Kyle Abbott’s from New York City and proceeded to ruffle feathers and get involved with both Summer Newman and Lola Rosales. After a romance with Lola didn’t pan out and Theo was left out of the Abbott family’s final goodbye to his biological grandmother, Dina Mergeron, the direction for the character became murkier.

Johnson first posted on his Twitter account, “That’s all folks!!” which had fans nervous as to his fate on the soap opera. Soon after, he confirmed suspicions of his departure with a message that said, “I’ve always been an optimist. Today isn’t an end, but a new beginning. Thank you to everyone tuned in to watch ‘Theo Vanderway’- it was all a blast. The future is bright. Love you all.” Additionally, in a response to a fan he said, “Until the next project. Sending you all love!!!”

We will update with Johnson’s last airdate when it becomes available. Sadly, looks like Theo will now never have a chance to join the ranks of The Young and the Restless’ all-time best characters, which we just happen to count down here! See what you think of who landed where.
