Updated July 23: Jason Canela took to social media to share the happy news that he had been placed on contract at Y&R, and stated, “I’m proud and honored to officially be a full time member of the @youngandtherestless family.”

On January 9, we reported that actor Jason Canela, who played Omar Robles on the Fox series, “Pitch,” and who is a past Telenovela star, was set to appear on “The Young and the Restless” according to Entertainment Weekly. Canela appeared on “Y&R” on February 2, as Arturo, a building contractor who has a great deal of charm and isn’t afraid to use it to sway a client.

Canela’s other acting credits include television’s “Missing,” in which he played Santiago, and “The Glades,” as well as films “Single in South Beach” and “Camino.” Most recently, he completed work on the upcoming movie, “Make Love Great Again.”

I’ve always believed that there are two types of artists. There are working ones and blessed ones. Thankfully I’ve had an incredible support system to always motivate me and help me push forward no matter how tough things got while I was working to become a better version of me so that one day I could be blessed. To every artist out there who feels discouraged because they have not booked that role or gotten that verse picked up in a track just remember that our line of work is not the easiest but if you truly love it then you know that if you continue to PUT IN THE WORK one day you will be blessed. Thank you to @malyoung @sony @cbs & @youngandtherestless for believing in me and making me feel at home in Genoa city and blessing me with the opportunity to bring life to Arturo Rosales. I’m proud and honored to officially be a full time member of the @youngandtherestless family #Blessed #EnjoyEveryMoment
