There was plenty of variety in the offerings this week, from the powerful Avant drama to the intense Sheila vs Quinn scenes, to the refreshing and fun couple moments and swimwear photo shoot. Thoughts:

Chillaxin’.
Steffy and Liam’s little spa day adventure was fun. Clearly marriage hasn’t dulled their connection; they continue to complement each other perfectly. He tempers the more aggressive side of her personality just a bit, while she brings out the playful sexy side of him. It’s also amazing to see “B&B” showing a variety of characters on the canvas, as it too often becomes focused on one storyline. Hooray for balance!

The signing.
The scenes leading up to Nicole signing the adoption papers were intense, soapy perfection. All of the players exhibited taut, raw emotions you couldn’t look away from, and when Vivienne came roaring for that opinionated Julius my heart all but stopped…just so good! Although I was relieved not to see this drag on, there were things said and done that may have implications moving forward, and not just by Julius. Maya offered to give up Rick’s daughter to her sister without a fight, which absolutely stunned him, and Zende came to Maya’s defense rather zealously more than once. Just little nuggets that could crop up in the future…

A great team.
I’ve enjoyed the vibe between Katie and Wyatt this week, with my barometer being the post-lunch ‘tension’ when they were alone in her house. They were all awkward compliments and smiles, and yes, there was that ‘moment’ when you almost wished they would share a kiss. Bingo! Not only do I like the energy zinging between them, but I’m psyched to see Katie indulge herself, and Wyatt not in a triangle. It goes without saying that if this becomes a thing, Bill and Quinn’s reactions alone will make for ‘must see’ TV.

Psycho.
It was predicted in the last Deconstructing B&B, that Eric would be unable to control Sheila once he invited her into his home, and despite his plans to keep tabs on her, he’s been as oblivious as ever. His ex has slipped seamlessly back into obsessing over him, and is showing her true colors more each day. For those not familiar with Sheila’s history on Y&R and B&B, she really is as scary as she seemed when she threatened to snap Quinn in two. Just as chilling was her almost hypnotic ability to glean information from the unsuspecting Charlie, armed only with some buttery compliments and a bit of revisionist history along the lines of ‘Stephanie was the kind of friend who would take a bullet for me’. Eek. The most intriguing aspect is that she’s coming for Quinn, who just might be the one person whom, if sufficiently provoked, can give as good as she gets from Sheila. Delicious.

Friday notes.
Wow, Charlie was almost cowering in the car as a laser-focused and very scary Sheila demanded he tell her if something was going on with Quinn and Ridge. Meanwhile, inside the mansion, Ridge struggled to remain unruffled as Quinn panicked that Sheila may know their secret though he must have been mentally peeing his pants. Love the tension surrounding all of this! And Eric; I felt so sad for blithely ignorant and happy Eric, whose world is about to be rocked… The summery feel of the Forrester swimwear suit was a nice contrast to the darker stuff going on, and I can’t wait to see what Thomas and Sally get up to as they ‘make a splash’ to create buzz. Should be fun.
