Deconstructing B&B: Storylines Orbiting Thomas Feel Unbelievable
December 23 - 27

As mentioned in the last Deconstructing B&B, the show has centered on Thomas to its detriment, as other characters are either talking to him or discussing him in conversation with someone else. This single-minded storytelling has been an issue for Bold and the Beautiful in the (recent) past and we didn’t have holiday episodes as a respite from the hammering on the same subject.
While Thomas’ actions add drama to Bold and Beautiful it’s too much to have all storylines and characters orbiting around his machinations. Not only does it become exhausting for him to be the main topic of all conversations, but the creepiness has been laid on so thick that I have similar issues to when Bill was obsessing over the skyscraper…he’s more of a caricature than a complex character we can find reasons to root for. As a result, every plot point he’s driving feels unbelievable. Ridge willfully ignoring that Thomas needs help for a number of issues, Forrester Creations holding a fashion showdown that involves Hope working with Thomas, Zoe falling for Thomas, Shauna chatting with Thomas as though he didn’t threaten her daughter’s life – none of it makes any sense. Brooke and Liam remain the loudest dissenting voices as everyone else has begun to let their guards down where Thomas is concerned, and though I feel their frustration, their harping on it has become a headache as well.
Brooke has been saying the same exact lines for weeks now. "Protect my daughter" & "Thomas is dangerous" are only things she keeps saying #BoldandBeautiful

One thing we can probably count on is that Brooke is dropping these terms because something bad is going to happen. With Thomas forging ahead with his plan to make Hope want him by dating Zoe, I don’t even know what to hope for as an outcome. Thomas falling for Zoe would be a twist, at least for him, but would likely lead to Hope deciding she wants to be a family with him and Douglas. So this could play out for months unless the ‘something bad’ happens sooner rather than later.
Change of pace
The good news is I’m looking forward to the fashion showdown if only as a change of pace as we didn’t have a break from the day-to-day happenings in the form of holiday episodes this year. That said, I hope it’s not just a parade of models in the office. The bad news is that it doesn’t make sense that Ridge and Steffy agreed to it (another unrealistic development to feed the Thomas story) and it feels like a forgone conclusion that Thomas and Hope will win at this point, so it would be nice to see something unexpected go down.
These are my opinions on the show. Please share your thoughts in the comment section.
