At Forrester, Thomas protests to his father that he was cutting an apple with a knife, like anyone would do. Ridge feels Brooke must have felt the blade was too close to the kid or something. “She doesn’t trust you yet.” Thomas replies, “Clearly, if she was thinking about calling Child Protective Services on me.” Ridge assures him that nobody is calling anyone — he’s an amazing father to that little boy. Thomas thanks him for the reassurance. He just wishes Brooke would stay out of their lives for good.

Ridge can see that Brooke has no respect for Thomas as a father and he’s sorry since his son worked so hard to get here. Charlie enters and tells Ridge, “You were asking if Brooke has left the building. She’s in the design office with Hope and Liam.” Ridge reminds Charlie to close the door as he goes. Thomas hates that Brooke is giving Ridge all this grief. Ridge wants peace in the family. Thomas agrees that it would be best for Douglas. He can’t stand the idea that someone thinks his house is unsafe for his son. He’s going to go home and make sure it’s as safe as it can be. Ridge gives him a huge hug. Thomas doesn’t understand why Brooke has to blow things out of proportion. He suggests Ridge go by to hang out with Douglas — he’ll meet him there. Thomas tells his father he wouldn’t be the man he is without him.

In Taylor’s office, Steffy and Taylor think Brooke is stirring the pot because it benefits her daughter. Taylor laments that Thomas has worked so hard to redeem himself and Brooke refuses to give him credit. It breaks her heart for Thomas… and also for Ridge. Steffy feels that the more Brooke condemns Thomas, the closer she gets to losing her dad.

In the design office, Brooke recounts to Hope and Liam how Thomas was glaring at her while holding the knife. She’s concerned that he’s not bringing Douglas home. Hope reminds her that they want to spend time together. Brooke insists Thomas isn’t a healthy father figure and says, “Think of all the things he’s done.” Liam mutters, “Kinda hard to forget.” Brooke plans to do whatever is necessary to keep Douglas safe.

In Taylor’s office, Steffy rants that Brooke is way off base. Taylor says she’ll never love anything of hers. Steffy adds, “Except your husband.” They figure Brooke resents Steffy and Thomas because they were Ridge’s first family. They recap that Thomas works all day and then goes home to his son. Steffy thinks Brooke is digging her own grave — her actions against Thomas will push Ridge away real quick.

At the Forrester mansion, Ridge and Douglas play a game of chess and they talk about the kid’s drawings. He says his dad has been helping him lately. Ridge asks if he’s enjoyed being there. Douglas says he has; he loves his dad very much.

Hope and Liam enter the design office after getting coffee. They kiss and Hope groans that her mother forgot her purse, which means she’ll be back soon to get it. She asks what Liam thinks about what she said. Liam says she could have said nothing, and he’d still feel the same way. Douglas’ home is with them. Hope would love nothing more than to tuck her son into bed, but she doesn’t want to impede the progress he’s made with his father. Liam feels he should be able to go over to Thomas’ whenever he wants… with supervision. In the meantime, he needs to come back to his proper home with them. He asks, “Are we still on the same page about that?”

In the design office, Hope doesn’t want a custody battle. Liam doesn’t think that would be good either, but they can’t take Thomas’ word for it that he’s changed. Hope finds the bit with the knife disconcerting, but Thomas has overall behavior has shown improvement. Liam intones, “You’ve said that before. And I don’t want to do it all again.” He thinks enough is enough and Douglas needs to come home. Brooke walks in on Liam’s proclamation and says he’s right. The only way they can guarantee Douglas’ safety is if he’s in Hope’s care. She’ll do everything she can to get him back where he belongs.
