At Il Giardino, Deacon complains to Paul that an order was screwed up again. The guy realizes something else is bugging him and asks, “Does she have a name?” Ridge walks in and Deacon groans, “The night is just getting better and better.” Ridge walks up and barks, “You need to stay away from Brooke.” Deacon moves the box-cutter away for everyone’s safety and turns back to Ridge, “You were saying?” Ridge saw the photo Hope posted and that was after he told Deacon to stay away from Brooke. He declares, “You’re bad news for everyone, especially the people you care about.”

At Brooke’s place, Liam learns that Douglas is still with Thomas and is going to spend another night due to a family dinner, Beth is still at Lola’s, and Hope’s gone to Deacon’s new apartment. Liam knows he wishes he could drop by there more often but Ridge is adamant about him staying away. They go over the situation being hard on Hope. Brooke explains Ridge is protective. Liam figures now that Sheila is no longer in their lives, Ridge will take out that pent-up aggression on Deacon. Brooke recaps that Sheila is dead no longer a threat — they never have to see her ever again.

At Brooke’s place, she tells Liam that Hope probably won’t be long, she just needed a diversion from what’s happening with Douglas. Liam hopes Thomas and Hope can work it out without a custody battle. Brooke complains that Thomas is already acting like Douglas is going to live with him, when he hasn’t looked after the boy for years. Liam recalls how unstable Thomas was when Douglas came to live with them. Brooke feels Steffy and Taylor are pushing for this and laments how it will change things for Beth, who views him as her older brother. She thinks this is stressing Hope out. Brooke hopes that she can unwind a bit at Deacon’s.

At Il Giardino, Deacon reminds Ridge that he and Brooke created a daughter together. Ridge counters that he’s hurt the young woman time and again with the poor choices he continues to make. Deacon snaps — Ridge has never made any bad choices or done anything he regrets. Ridge argues he’s not perfect but he’s not a con. “Sorry, ex-con.” Deacon complains that Ridge never even gave him a chance. Ridge hollers, “For what?!?” Apologizing to the murmuring diners, Ridge continues on to say that Deacon will prove to be exactly what he knows him to be — the guy who moved in on Brooke on New Year’s Eve. Deacon blames Sheila. Ridge barks that the picture he took was in his office. He doesn’t want Deacon in his office or his house because all he does is cause trouble. Deacon isn’t trying to cause trouble; trouble sometimes finds him. Ridge complains that he’s just like Sheila — it’s never his fault. Sheila was killed by a bear because she had nowhere to turn, and no one to talk to except for people like Deacon!

At Deacon’s place, Hope asks Sheila what her name is and how she knows her dad. Sheila stays quiet. Hope thinks she knows why the woman’s not talking and marvels, “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe what I’m seeing.”

At Brooke’s place, Liam admits he was hoping things would settle down with Sheila gone but they’re now caught up in the Thomas and Douglas situation and the Ridge and Deacon thing. Brooke senses there’s something he wants to say. Liam knows Deacon is doing his best not to disappoint Hope again, but old habits are hard to break. There are people in Hope’s life just waiting for him to slip up so they can give her the old “I told you so.” He just really hopes that doesn’t happen.

At Il Giardino, Ridge recaps that Sheila was a terrible person and Deacon let her into his life — that’s the kind of choices he makes. Deacon argues that Hope disagrees and wants him in her life. Ridge fumes, “We both know it’s going to end in disaster.” Deacon’s phone goes off. He takes a call from Liam and learns that Hope went to his apartment. He tells Liam he’s at work, thanks him for the heads-up, tells Ridge he has to go and walks off.

At Brooke’s place, Liam tells Brooke that Deacon was acting a little weird on the phone “I wonder what that was about?”

At Brooke’s place, Liam wonders why Hope didn’t go down to Il Giardino if Deacon wasn’t at his apartment. It’s weird that they weren’t together. Ridge comes in and says he was with Deacon when Liam called — he took off pretty quickly and assumes he wanted to clean up beer bottles or whatever is all over his floor. Brooke chastises, “Ridge.” Ridge is unapologetic and explains that he went to see her ex about the photo Hope posted. He’s hurt them before and he doesn’t want to see that happen again. Liam looks thoughtful.

At Deacon’s place, Hope asks Deacon why he hid the news that he was seeing someone. Deacon stammers until she requests an introduction. Deacon insists this isn’t what she thinks it is. Hope wants him to be happy since her mom has Ridge. Deacon declares this was a random thing that was completely unexpected. Hope introduces herself to Sheila, who calls herself Michelina, Lina for short. Deacon blurts that she’s an old friend, they go way back. Hope senses she’s met the woman somewhere before and asks, “Do I know you?”
