Ridge Makes a Decision About His Immediate Future After Talk of ‘Breaking the Cycle’
Wednesday, May 18, 2022: Today on The Bold and the Beautiful, Steffy gives her mom a pep talk, Hope sets Bill straight, and Ridge arrives at a crossroads.
In her living room, Brooke tells Ridge she knew she wouldn’t sabotage her sobriety or her life with him. Ridge states that Sheila saw an opening and she took it. Brooke asks what that means. “Are you finally coming home to me?” She can see that he hates what Sheila did to her. Ridge confirms he hates it and wishes he’d made it home that night to protect her. Brooke recaps that he helped her get the assistance she needed. Ridge will always be there for her. Brooke will always need him… and what she needs right now is for him to tell her he’s coming home.
At the cliff house, Taylor brings Steffy some healing tea. She’s so proud of her and what she did today. Steffy couldn’t have done it without her and declares, “Sheila didn’t win.” She asks how her mother is holding up given the news of what Sheila did to Brooke. Taylor muses about how it could play out for her and Ridge. Steffy didn’t mean to make her feel doubt. She can’t believe he’d throw away what he’s been sharing with her. Taylor was okay with him being with Brooke when she came back, but then they got this chance… Steffy warns she can’t let everything they’ve shared be erased because of Sheila.
At the cabin, Liam gets a text and tells Bill and Wyatt that Hope is on her way back. Wyatt wonders if he wants them to clear out as Bill notes he and his wife don’t always see eye-to-eye. He then picks up his previous talking point — Brooke isn’t going to find happiness with Ridge. Liam thinks it’s noble that his father is looking out for her, but Brooke is madly in love with him. Bill reminds him that he and Brooke were once madly and deeply in love. Hope arrives and Wyatt brings her up to speed on their conversation.
Hope admits she isn’t thrilled that Ridge is holding what happened over her mother. They go over her not knowing why she picked up the bottle that night. Liam feels it may remain a mystery. Bill questions if Deacon pushed the drinking. Hope explains their interaction was mostly innocent. He wishes Ridge would accept it and finally move on with her. “Whether you like it or not, Ridge and my mom are… destiny.” Bill declares he’s going to puke and wonders how that destiny crap works when Ridge is staying under the same roof with Taylor, with whom he also has a history. Hope looks wary.
At the cliff house, Taylor appreciates Steffy’s confidence. Steffy apologizes if she planted any seeds of doubt. They agree that he needed to go tell Brooke the truth about why she drank on New Year’s. Steffy feels it doesn’t change the fact that she turned to Deacon. Taylor has shown him what true love looks like. “Let’s hope he doesn’t forget that.”
At Brooke’s place, Brooke feels like a huge weight has been lifted off of her. She wants to move on from that whole night and forget it even happened. “You are my husband and I love you more than anything. I really believe we can make up for lost time by moving on together.” Ridge would love to move past that night more than anything else. Sheila made her drink… but she ended up with Deacon. “What do I do with that?”
At the cabin, Bill complains to those assembled that Ridge ran to Taylor so fast he has whiplash. Did he give any consideration at all to how hurtful that was to Brooke? Hope appreciates his stance — it’s clear he still cares a lot about her mother. Wyatt feels it’s pointless to debate when Brooke isn’t there to give her input. Bill asks Hope to think about what she said and try to get through to her mother. Hope is choosing to remain optimistic about Ridge. — it’s who she wants. Bill and Wyatt leave.
At the cliff house, Taylor goes over how complicated things are for Ridge. Steffy doesn’t believe he’ll have lasting peace with Brooke… not the way he will with her.
At Brooke’s place, Ridge wants to break the cycle. Brooke protests that they need to work through this together! Ridge asks if she doesn’t think there’s a point in any relationship where you have to stop hurting one another. Brooke argues that they have to change the pattern. Ridge bellows that he’s been staying at Steffy’s and Taylor has been nothing but kind to him — no expectations. “She just wants is for me to be happy! She’s an amazing woman.” He has two great women in his life and Brooke is asking him to hurt one of them. “Which one?”
At the cabin, Hope tells Liam she appreciated Bill trying to stick up for her mom. “But do you think he’s right?” Liam doesn’t think he’s entirely wrong. Ridge isn’t being fair to Brooke, but then again he feels betrayed and hurt. “I don’t love that Ridge went running to Taylor right away. That feels hypocritical.” Hope just can’t give up on Ridge and her mother just yet.
At the cliff house, Steffy tells her mother that she believes Ridge wants to be back with his family. This is where he feels truly loved and supported. “You need to trust that. Dad will be back.”
In her living room, Brooke insists she never would have kissed Deacon if she hadn’t been drinking. Ridge loves her, but he needs some time. Brooke understands that. Ridge won’t stay at Steffy’s anymore because that’s not right either. He’ll move in with his dad and spend some time with the family. Brooke laughs with relief. That’s the place they first laid eyes on each other. Ridge is doing this because he loves her so much. “Does that make sense?” Brooke knows they’re soulmates and will get through this to have a big, beautiful bright life together. “You are my destiny. You are.” With that, they kiss.
Next on The Bold and the Beautiful: Quinn unites with Eric to help the Forresters in their time of crisis, and Ridge reveals his plans.
