Carter Is Overheard by [Spoiler] as He Dumps Paris — and Sheila Snaps at Deacon
Monday, April 18, 2022: Today on The Bold and the Beautiful, Ridge debates Taylor's new outlook on Sheila, Zende reaches a decision, and Deacon is pained by Sheila's news.
At the hospital, Ridge reels over the news that Sheila saved Taylor’s life. He’s grateful, but tells Sheila that they need to focus on Steffy now. He wonders what she was doing jumping off a building — that’s not going to bring Finn back! Deputy Chief Baker appears and intones that nothing will bring him back, but he’s going to do everything he can to get the trash off the street that killed him. Sheila excuses herself and goes off around a corner, where she holds her head.
At Forrester Creations, Quinn tells Eric they could have stayed home, but he wanted to feel they were doing something instead of just sitting around waiting. He sighs, “Thank God Steffy’s regained consciousness.” They marvel over her being shot and remark on how hard it is to believe Finn is gone. Eric declares they will get through this as a family.
Carter arrives at the hospital and joins Paris and Zende. He gets a text from Hope and Liam, who are in the cafeteria and ask if they want anything. Resuming their conversation, they go over Finn being gone. Zende remarks that Carter is like part of the family. Carter casts a guilty look at Paris.
After Paris has gone to meet up with her mom, Zende explains to Carter that Steffy’s still resting. Now probably isn’t the right time, but he could use some advice. Carter asks, “What’s up?” Zende confides that he can’t keep Paris off his mind and is ready to make her his wife. Carter knows he’d treat her like a queen and urges the designer to follow his heart. “Propose to her.”
Zende joins Eric and Quinn at Forrester and reports that everyone is staying strong at the hospital. He’s been thinking about the importance of family and relays he can’t wait any longer to ask Paris to be his wife. Eric’s chuffed to hear some good news, but Quinn worries that Paris wanted to keep things casual. Zende knows in his heart that Paris is his future.
In the design office, Carter slams his laptop close and reopens it again. Paris comes in and notes he’s been avoiding her. Carter tells her this isn’t going to happen — he’s wrong for her, she needs to be with Zende. Paris calls him out. He said he loved her. If they love each other why can’t they work it out? “If this is because of my mother…” Carter interrupts that of course it’s about her mother — she had the same reaction everyone would. He repeats that Zende is her future.
At the hospital, Baker tells Taylor and Ridge that they’ve had no luck finding camera footage from the shooting. He wants to question Steffy. Ridge informs him she doesn’t remember anything from the incident, not yet anyway.
Deacon arrives at the hospital and finds Sheila sitting alone on the floor. He says she doesn’t deserve to be alone, but she questions that. She updates him that something amazing happened today. “I saved Taylor’s life.” Deacon learns they were on the roof and that Sheila had gone there to end her life. He grimaces with sadness. Finn didn’t deserve to die and neither does she. Deacon counsels that it will get easier. Sheila snaps at him. Everything she touches she destroys. Deacon argues, “None of this was your fault.” Sheila flashes to the shooting and bangs her head against the wall.
In the waiting area, Taylor tells Ridge that seeing Steffy in there like that reminds her of Phoebe. Ridge, holding her, teases that they won’t lose Steffy; she’s too stubborn. “Steffy’s going to be okay.” Taylor’s heart breaks for Jack, Li… and Sheila. Ridge asks Taylor to tell her what happened between them on the roof. Taylor flashes to going over the edge, screaming, and being pulled back up. The same woman who almost destroyed her life years ago, saved it. She describes what happened. Ridge reminds her not to forget about all the things she’s done to their family. “One good deed doesn’t erase all the evil she’s done! Don’t tell me you’re looking at her differently?!” He insists she hasn’t changed. “Wherever this woman goes chaos follows and she’s at her lowest right now. I’m trying to figure out what she’ll do to this family next.”
In the design office, Paris is upset that everyone thinks they have a say in how she feels. She’s a grown woman who makes her own decisions. “I’m deciding you.” She’ll risk her job and her standing with the Forrester family to be with him. Carter tells her, “It’s not worth the risk to me.” She cries, “You don’t mean that.” Carter won’t ruin her life. If Zende proposes she should accept and make a life with him. “I just want you to be happy. Paris leaves the office. The door closes, Carter turns and Quinn’s there. “Really? You and Paris?”
