At Brooke's house, she tells Ridge that Hope and R.J. aren't home, they're at an all kids slumber party, so it is safe to talk. Ridge tells Brooke that they really need to talk, and need to resolve this. Brooke agrees, "We need to do what's best for everybody, that's what we both want.
Brooke and Ridge take a nostalgic walk through old memories. Donna and Eric have a heart to heart, and Thorne fills Katie in on the affair.
Katie arrives at Thorne's door to bring him a gift to celebrate getting Forrester Creations back. He is in a sour mood, and tells her that his father has started an affair with her sister. She is shocked and tells him he must be mistaken - Brooke is nowhere near ready for any such thing! Thorne informs her that it's not Brooke, it's Donna! Katie wrinkles her nose, "That's disgusting!"
Ashley goes to Eric's office to talk with him about the awkwardness of her and Brooke working for the same company. He reassures her about her value within Forrester Creations. Ashley then advises him to keep it down about his opinion that Brooke and Ridge are meant to be. He tells her he has just noticed a pattern over time. Ashley, hand on hip, informs Eric that she's with Ridge and she's not going anywhere!
Brooke tells Ridge she realizes Ashley is feeling pretty threatened. He corrects her, Ashley is not so much threatened as annoyed. He tells Brooke that one of her sisters or Bridget could be there for her during her recovery, if she'd only let them. Brooke protests that it's Ridge she wants to support her. He tells her the problem is that there has been alot more going on between them than support. Brooke smiles, "You finally admit it. Did you tell Ashley?" He raises his eyebrows, "No, there's no need to because it's gotta' stop - tonight!"
Katie is horrified by Donna's latest antics, "She couldn't get to Stephanie through you so now she's trying with Eric?!" Thorne shakes his head and tells her the worst part is, Eric sounds just like he did in the beginning of his relationship with Donna. Katie asks if Eric goes crazy every few years. Thorne tells her he doesn't understand, his parents have a fight and suddenly his father starts an affair? Katie says she doesn't mean to be rude, but that's the only part she can understand about this!
Still in his office, Eric tells Ashley that Ridge needs a strong woman in his life. She tells him that Ridge has been spending time with Brooke to assauge his guilt over Stephanie's role in the attack and to get her in rape counseling. He acknowledges that they both feel guilty. She asks about Stephanie's whereabouts. He says he really doesn't know, and frankly he's getting worried, they all are... Ash leaves and Donna comes in. When she asks about his conversation with Thorne, he teases her that he's disappointed in her for not listening at the door. She thanks him for defending her to Thorne, and says that he just wants his parents to stay together. She wonders out loud about what's going to happen when Stephanie walks through the door.
Ridge apologizes for sending Brooke mixed signals. Brooke tells him that means that he has mixed feelings. He doesn't comment, but says he can't have it both ways. He faces Brooke and tells her directly that he's in love with someone else, and is marrying someone else. Brooke is giggly, "Okay, Ridge." She says she found something in the closet, "Open at your own risk!" He takes an album from Brooke's hands.
Donna and Eric discuss how airtight the contract with Nick is. Donna says to Eric that should he decide not to divorce Stephanie, there's not much Nick can do, "Is he gonna' huff and puff and blow your house down?" Eric says he won't know what he's going to do until he sees Stephanie. Donna muses, "Even though you're not happy, maybe that's not the most important thing, maybe it's feeling connected. And maybe Thorne is right; I'm after your money, your name, revenge, things that have nothing to do with you." Eric is amused, "Are you - you know if you told me that you were, I don't think I'd even care, I'd probably like you more." He draws her close, "Is that what you're doing? Just using me Donna Logan?"
As Ashley watches the clock at home, Ridge and Brooke leaf through the album of old pictures of them as a couple at different times in their lives. They flashback to times when he proposed, when he delivered the baby, when they had their wedding on the beach, the two of them saying 'I love you', covered in mud and kissing, strolling in Venice, and making love... Ridge is visibly moved. Brooke says, "I've loved you all my life, and I will 'til the day I die." Ridge abruptly says he needs to go. He takes the album. Brooke is still decidedly upbeat, "Keep in touch?" He clears his throat, "I'll see you tomorrow at work." Brooke says, "Right. Like the old days, no not like the old days." She has a knowing smile as he walks out...
Katie and Thorne joke about not being having ended up in the wrong families and their 'real' families coming to look for them someday. Thorne thanks her for the gift, a sign for his office door. Katie smiles, "It will come in handy, I'm nothing if not practical. See you around!" She leaves, he thinks, smiling...
Donna tells Eric she would let him know what she's doing with him, if she knew. She tells him she doesn't think about herself as much as others seem to. She looks in the mirror and likes what she sees or not... She makes a comment about love going well with money. Donna says she could list all of Eric's good qualities, reasons she might value him for himself, but she feels he already knows. He asks if she's not having palpitations at the thought of Stephanie coming back. She admits she will love to see her reaction. She tells him he's sidestepped many beautiful young women that have thrown themselves at him. He says he can't get what he needs from a 19 year old. She asks what that would be, then goes on to say that she never thought of herself as being right for someone like him, but she has crossed a line within herself, and now he has the power to hurt her. Eric pronounces that he's as good for her as she is for him...
Ashley is in bed when Ridge creeps into the room and sits on the bedside and gives her a kiss. She asks how it went with Brooke, he declines to talk about it... Ashley senses something strange in his demeanor. At home, Brooke finds a picture that fell out of the album and picks it up and gazes at it. At the same time, Ridge is getting into bed next to Ashley, but seemingly emotionally unsettled, doesn't lay down, and doesn't touch his fiancee...
