Jackie and Donna are sitting down for a business meeting at Bikini Beach. Donna is on the phone with Brooke trying to convince her to join them. Brooke declines and a worried Donna asks if she is still having trouble sleeping. After making her sister promise to eat, she hangs up. Jackie expresses concern over Brooke and professes her hatred for Stephanie. Donna muses that Stephanie may get what's coming to her sooner than she thinks...
Clash & Burn
Donna clashes with Stephanie at Bikini and later fires another shot by scoring a date with Thorne. Rick is given an inch in his fight to win Phoebe back.
At the studio, Constantine is excitedly describing a new deal to Phoebe. His label is getting a new website and will finally be 'on the map'! He then explains that the new deal is based on the contest between her and Constantine and her and Rick...
Rick has arrived at Brooke's, lamenting outloud how he has to find a way to make Phoebe see that she is making a mistake by giving up on them. Brooke interrupts by telling him that perhaps the 'thing' with Phoebe isn't the best idea after all...
As Jackie is speaking across the table to Donna, it is apparent that Donna isn't listening. Jackie puts down her papers and sighs; look, she tells Donna, I'm concerned about Brooke too - Stephanie won't stop until she gets what she wants. Just then a waiter approaches and asks Donna if she got her 'friend' home okay last night. Jackie asks her what friend and she tells her it was Thorne. Jackie is shocked that Donna 'helped' a Forrester, and asks her point blank "why"? At that moment Donna watches as Stephanie arrives for lunch with the children. Following Donna's gaze, Jackie suddenly realizes that Donna helping Thorne has something to do with getting back at Stephanie.
At Brooke's house, an irritated Rick tells his mother that he doesn't want to hear that Phoebe may not be right for him. "I'm a mess, I've been such an idiot," he rants. Brooke suggests that he and Phoebe are at different stages in their lives - and for him that means going backward. He sulks that Phoebe is worth it. It's too much of a struggle, Brooke says gently. Rick says his head knows that that is true, but his heart says different. Maybe she's not the right person, Brooke continues, or it is simply not the right timing. Rick cuts her off and re-asserts that Phoebe is worth going through anything.
Constantine shows Phoebe the new website - anyone in the world can log in and vote! Phoebe is not so enthused. Constantine then drops another piece of information - there is a huge concert scheduled for August 24th, and the winners of the vote will be the headline act - either Phoebe and Constantine, or Phoebe and Rick. Phoebe is obviously distressed and says that it can't happen - she simply cannot sing with Rick when she can barely look at him! Constantine has his confusion cleared up for him when Phoebe confesses - you and Dad were right about Rick - he slept with that 'other woman' when we'd only been apart for one day!
As Stephanie is ordering the kids' drinks, Donna approaches the table and bends down to greet the children. The children then leave to watch their smoothies being made. Donna begins by asking where Ridge is, as he is supposed to have the kids. Stephanie tells her that he is at work. "And you're only too happy to mind them", Donna sneers. She reminds Stephanie that she doesn't have temporary custody, Ridge does, and that the kids should be with their mother. She accuses Stephanie of having a sick need for control. Stephanie counters by saying that Brooke is in no shape to look out for the children - they're better off with my family. She also adds that with no children tying her down, Brooke is free to return to her whoring ways. Donna takes a shot at Steph, who grabs her hand, holds it, and warns "don't you ever do that again".
Constantine tries to comfort Phoebe by saying he is so sorry - he knew she wanted to believe that things hadn't gone that far with Rick and the other woman. I trusted him, Phoebe spits. Constantine states the obvious by adding, "and he betrayed that trust". Phoebe says she cannot be onstage with Rick. Constantine pleads with her that everything is scheduled, tickets are being sold etc.. Phoebe is in disbelief that she might have to get up and sing a love song with Rick. THis could be your shot, Constantine reminds her, just tell all your friends to vote for us, and everything will be fine. She agrees to do it. They hug and Constantine offers to talk to Rick, but Phoebe insists that she will do it herself.
As Stephanie still holds the hand that Donna struck at her with, she re-iterates that there is nothing Donna can do to hurt her. She releases Donna's hand roughly, and Donna's cellphone rings. Glaring, Donna answers, it's Thorne. He pleads for her not to hang-up and asks where she is at. She tells him, and he begs her to stay put and let him join her there. He offers to buy her lunch and again begs for just a chance. With a look at Stephanie, Donna agrees. After she hangs up, Donna hints to Steph that there just might be a way that she can hurt her. Donna reminds Steph that the situation with the kids won't be permanent. "It would be for the best if it was," Steph states, "and don't mess with me Donna, if you do, things will only get worse for your sister." Donna warns Steph with a sinister air that she could have done much worse than Brooke for a daughter-in-law. Steph laughs it off, and they part ways.
Rick barges in on Phoebe, who is now at work at Forrester. He begins his rant about them not being over, and when he tells her she can't avoid him forever, she surprises him by agreeing. "Thanks to something Constantine has done...".
Back at her table with Jackie, Donna is unable to concentrate on work after her confrontation with Stephanie. She insinuates to Jackie that she knows Steph's weak spot. As Thorne arrives at Bikini, Jackie asks how far Donna is planning on taking things. As far as necessary is Donna's reply. She moves away from the table to join Thorne, who thanks her for waiting and agreeing to see him. Donna says she is humiliated enough after sleeping with him, something she never does, she reminds him that he doesn't even remember it. He assures her that he doesn't think badly of her and asks her to let him take her out on the town. After telling him directly that no matter what his mother says she's no tramp, he again reassures her and asks her out. She finally says okay and he leans across the table and kisses her, more than once, before leaning back, gazing at her, and grinning...
Phoebe has filled Rick in on the news of the big concert, and he enthusiastically asks when it will be. He says he is glad Phoebe agreed to go through with it. He waxes romantic by declaring that every vote for Phoebe and Rick will not just be a vote for their song, but for their love. This is his chance to prove that they belong together, he decides. Phoebe has tears in her eyes, as she fights to not let Rick get to her. Rick looks her in the eyes and whispers that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her..
