Five new movies added to Lifetime line-up based on books by Ann Rule.
Back in November, Soaps.com announced a few new movies to be featured in Lifetime’s Ripped From The Headlines event, including Young and Restless alum Lyndsy Fonseca in You Can’t Take My Daughter. Now the network has added five more movies to the event from best-selling true crime author Ann Rule. Hallmark actress and As the World Turns alum Ashley Williams (Dani Andropoulos) and Bold and the Beautiful alum Robin Givens (Dr. Phillips; Guiding Light’s Diana; Ambitions) will make their small-screen directorial debuts this summer, as first reported by Variety.
Williams will direct Practice to Deceive, which is produced by Lighthouse Pictures. The story surrounds a small island town that erupts in chaos when a local businessman is found dead. As the investigation gets underway, everyone from his wife, his neighbors and best friend are questioned. The script was written Christina Ray.
Givens will direct A Murder to Remember, inspired by Rule’s book Empty Promises. Big Dreams Entertainment will produce the film with the script written by Amber Benson. The premise follows a couple who celebrates their one-year anniversary during a camping trip. However, things take a deadly turn when the wife is left to fend for herself until a fellow camper appears to offer help – and it might not be the help she needs…
Other movies to air as well include Bitter Harvest, Danger In The Dorm, Mortal Danger and Practice to Deceive. Lifetime’s Broader Focus Initiative supports and hires female directors, writers and producers. For the first half of 2020, Lifetime’s originals are made up 68% women writers, 57% women directors and 53% women executive producers. We will update with air dates when they are released.
