Not only does Mario Lopez (ex-Christian, B&B) now host the entertainment news program “Extra”, but he will also host the upcoming Miss America pageant. Having some experience with the job, Mario hosted the pageant in 2007 and will help crown the 2009 winner on January 24.

“Mario and the Miss America Organization’s past relationship has proven beneficial, and we look forward to having him in Vegas again this year,” said Brent Zacky, programming V.P. for TLC.

After leaving B&B, Mario has kept busy by appearing in episodes of the TV series, “Eight Days a Week”, “George Lopez”, “Robot Chicken” and “Nip/Tuck”, as well as the TV movies “Husband for Hire” and “Holiday in Handcuffs” and of course, Dancing With the Stars.

Aside from hosting “Extra” and the Miss America pageant, Mario will also be seen in the upcoming documentary “Teenage Paparazzi”, which takes a look at the relationship between celebrity and society. The documentary is written and directed by Adrian Grenier (“Entourage”) and also features Lindsay Lohan, Alec Baldwin, Eva Longoria Parker (ex-Isabella,
Y&R) and Paris Hilton, among many others.

The Miss America pageant will be held in Las Vegas and will air on TLC.
