This is what’s up, Doc: The Bold and the Beautiful has replaced Hunter Tylo after nearly three decades (off and on) as Dr. Taylor Hayes, Entertainment Weekly reports. Krista Allen — no stranger to recasts, what with having succeeded Lisa Rinna as Days of Our Lives’ Billie Reed in 1996 — will take over the role of Steffy and Thomas’ mom, Ridge’s ex-wife and Brooke’s longtime sparring partner on December 10.
Per EW, the CBS soap tried to get Tylo to come back but couldn’t get her to once again pass through the studio’s revolving door. That might at last explain why Taylor was conspicuously missing in action after her son underwent the brain surgery that ended his romance with his Hope mannequin and her daughter had a baby and got married to Finn. You’ll recall that Steffy’s wedding reception was crashed by the groom’s surprise mother, supervillain Sheila, who once “murdered” Taylor.
Anyone want to bet that the two characters will cross swords shortly after Allen makes her debut? Anybody? Everybody?
Allen, who’s appeared on everything from Baywatch to The X-Files, is scheduled to start taping The Bold and the Beautiful on October 28. Her first scenes are said to be with Steffy and her dad, Ridge, who was recast in 2013, with One Life to Live/Port Charles/All My Children vet Thorsten Kaye taking over the part in the wake of Ronn Moss’ quarter-century stint.
