The old saying goes, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” So that’s exactly what we’ve done.

We knew in November of 2020, when we published our countdown of the 30 greatest soap supercouples of all time, that some feathers were going to be ruffled. That’s just the nature of the beast. Daytime fans rarely have an opinion that isn’t strong, and we pity the fool that disagrees.

Heck, we have strong opinions, too, ones that dictated the lineup and their order on the list. We tried to be scientific about it, detached and objective. But c’mon, just like the heart wants what it wants, the editor likes what the editor likes.

But we’re not unreasonable. Unless you’re suggesting that we’ve had enough wine, that is; then all bets are off. We invited you to share the couples that you felt belonged on the list, to note which should be moved up and/or down, to participate.

Since then, we’ve taken your points under advisement and given the Top 30 a remix of sorts that has turned it into a Top 45. You’ll still see familiar couples in there — lots of ’em. However, hopefully you’ll also see some pairings that you felt were unfairly overlooked.

You might even spot some surprises, as new couples occurred to us not just from General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful and Days of Our Lives but One Life to Live, Santa Barbara and Port Charles (ahead of its time, that show was!).
