Here’s Who Will Win Best Actress at the Daytime Emmy Awards 2020 — & Why
Emotional performances in the outstanding actress category.
Last month, we announced the 47th Daytime Emmy nominations, which included nominees for Outstanding Actress from Bold & Beautiful’s Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke) and Heather Tom (Katie), Days of our Lives’ Arianne Zucker (Nicole), and General Hospital’s Maura West (Ava) and Finola Hughes (Anna/Alex). The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) did not release the actor’s full Emmy submission reels this year. However, the Daytime Emmys posted short highlight clips of the scenes submitted by the nominated actresses on social media. Based on them, we’ll predict who might take home the award…
2019 submitted scenes
Bold & Beautiful’s Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke) submitted scenes from the March 26, 2019 episode in which Brooke warned Taylor to stay away from her family after she caught her kissing Ridge. Heather Tom’s scenes were from the September 17, 2019 episode in which Katie berated Flo for what she had done to their family.
Days of our Lives’ Arianne Zucker (Nicole) submitted scenes from the May 7, 2019 episode in which Nicole learned Holly died in a car accident and was inconsolable.
General Hospital’s Maura West (Ava) submitted a scene from the May 24, 2019 episode where Ava held Ryan at gunpoint and threatened to kill him for murdering her daughter. Finola Hughes (Anna/Alex) submitted a scene from the March 20, 2019 episode in which Alex told Anna the memory that’s haunted her for years was implanted.

All five actresses were amazing in their scenes, and we can only make our predictions based on these very short shared clips, not the full reels submitted. Based on the clips alone I would say General Hospital’s Maura West (Ava) will win for the raw anger and emotion she brought when she faced the killer of her character’s daughter. Days of our Lives’ Arianne Zucker is likely her biggest competition, playing Nicole, who learned the daughter she had longed to have for so many years was tragically killed.
However, all the actresses were exceptional. Bold & Beautiful’s Katherine Kelly Lang always brings it in scenes when her character Brooke goes up against Taylor. From the same show, Heather Tom (Katie) is a powerhouse at acting, and her character lashing out at Flo for invoking Storm’s name was an intense scene. And Finola Hughes (Anna/Alex) showed her acting prowess on General Hospital playing two very different twin characters who shared a secret.
