12 Soap Stars Show Off Quarantine Beards & Striking Scruff & We’re Here for It
B&B, Days, GH, and Y&R actors embrace new looks.
There’s no question the quarantine has brought about many changes in our daily lives. For some male soap opera stars that includes donning a new look. While scrolling through our social media feeds, Soaps.com couldn’t help but notice the influx of facial hair on several usually clean (or close to clean) shaven soap opera actors. We’ve gathered a few examples of the men of The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless sporting some striking scruff and full-on beards.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Jacob Young (Rick Forrester), whose Instagram feed is regularly filled with photos of him with a five o’clock shadow, fully committed while staying safe at home by letting a full beard grow in. Though not as drastic, the normally clean-shaven (onscreen anyway) Matthew Atkinson’s (Thomas Forrester) goatee was hard to miss in a video of him working out with his super adorable dog.

Days of our Lives
Brandon Barash showed off a full beard while singing a fun ditty about his character Stefan DiMera’s presumed death and his recent return to Salem as mechanic Jake. Gilles Marini (ex-Ted Laurent), Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis), Eric Winter (ex-Rex Brady) are sporting new looks. Meanwhile, James Reynolds’ (Abe Carver) wife Lissa posted a picture of the oft goateed or mustachioed Reynolds now with a fully grown-in beard. “I’m sort of liking the grey & black beard,” she captioned.
General Hospital
During his video message about the Y&R flashback episodes honoring Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor, The Young and the Restless) Billy Miller (Drew Cain, General Hospital; ex-Billy Abbott, The Young and the Restless) said, “As you can tell I have the standard issue quarantine beard and this crazy mop going on.” Real Andrews (Marcus Taggert) showed his morning motivation while showing off his scruff. Likewise, Wes Ramsey’s (Peter) girlfriend and General Hospital co-star Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos) posted a photo of the two of them with Ramsey’s protective mask hanging from his ears revealing his usually light beard evolved into full-on fluff.
The Young and the Restless
Jordi Vilasuso (Rey Rosales) joked about the state of his hair in an Instagram post wondering “What am I going to do with this poof?” Though, we couldn’t help but notice his jawline stubble. Likewise, Christian Le Blanc (Michael Baldwin) showed off his developing beard and unruly mane with the grey showing – he may want to let his hair grow out. We think he might be a silver fox under the brown hair!
