Soap opera alums go behind the scenes, onto streaming platforms and beyond.
These soap opera stars are making their mark across media platforms. Soaps.com has compiled the latest places to find some of your favorite former soap opera actors from As the World Turns, Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, Guiding Light, One Life to Live, and Passions.
Rocking the Couch
Andrea Evans (Tawny Moore, Bold and the Beautiful; Tina Lord, One Life to Live; Rebecca Hotchkiss, Passions) is going behind the camera as producer of a documentary about one of the first lawsuits to take on the Hollywood casting couch—25 years before the #MeToo era. The year was 1992 when 12 unknown actresses defied their union and loss of their careers and privacy to tell police about the behavior of talent agent Wallace Kaye. They won, but Hollywood didn’t change. The documentary also features soap alums Kim Johnston Ulrich (Diana McColl, As The World Turns; Ivy Winthrop, Passions) and Tonja Walker (Olivia Jerome, General Hospital; Alex Olanov, One Life to Live). Rocking the Couch is available to view On Demand from Avail Films.
Days of our Lives alum Erik Von Detten (Nicholas Alamain) and his wife Angela are expecting their first child, a baby girl. Married last August, the couple is already 33 weeks along. Although Von Detten, who has appeared opposite Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries and in shows like Bones and Malcolm in the Middle, has not done much acting lately, but is spending time preparing for his new role of dad.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Young and the Restless alum Ray Wise (Ian Ward) appeared as Enoch in the Season 2 episode, subtitled Blackwood, of Netflix’s popular Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The show is a spinoff of the CW’s popular Archie comics-inspired teen soap, Riverdale (which features All My Children alum Marc Consuelos and the late Luke Perry), focusing on Sabrina the Teenage Witch in a spookier and edgier take than its cartoon version.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Billy Dee Williams is returning to Star Wars as Lando Calrissian in the next installment of the international franchise, The Rise of Skywalker. Williams appeared on General Hospital (Toussaint DuBois), Another World (Assistant DA), and Guiding Light (Dr. Jim Frazier) before his Hollywood turn as the smooth-talking smuggler opposite Harrison Ford as Hans Solo in the original series. He can be seen in the new Star Wars trailer, leading fans to wonder what role his character will play with the mix of new and old cast members.
