Soap opera alums’ exciting projects.

Jacob Young’s dark thriller

Soaps.com can share that Bold and the Beautiful actor Jacob Young (Rick Forrester) will appear in a new thriller entitled Psycho Granny. The film surrounds a young woman named Samantha, who is buoyed by the appearance of her long, lost grandmother Colleen after her mother passes away, especially since she’s pregnant. Unfortunately, Colleen’s dark past is revealed, and Sam finds herself fighting to save herself and her family.

Young plays Todd in the film, while Samantha is played by Brooke Newton, who held the role of Colby Chandler on All My Children, and Colleen is played by Robin Riker, who was Days of our Lives’ Maureen Lockhart, Beth Logan on B&B, and Naomi Dreyfus on General Hospital. Other cast members include Matthew Lawrence (Gimme a Break, Boy Meets World) and Mary O’Neil (Second Chance Christmas, My Crazy Ex). The film will air on Lifetime on Saturday May 19.

Kim Matula’s comedy movie based on true story

B&B alum, Kim Matula, who played Hope Logan from 2010 – 2016, is in the new feature film, Fighting With My Family. Matula shared the movie’s poster on her Instagram and enthused, “Sending a ✨HUGE CONGRATULATIONS✨ to everyone involved with @fightingwmyfam and their premiere at Sundance yesterday! This film is funny, it’s moving, and I’m proud to have been a part of it.”

Fighting With My Family, billed as a biography, comedy, and drama written and directed by Stephen Marchant, is based on the true story of WWE wrestler, Paige, and stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson (Journey 2, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), and Vince Vaughan (Wedding Crashers, The Break Up). Matula plays the role of Jeri-Lyn in the movie, which is due in theaters beginning February 22.

Taja V. Simpson’s romantic film with a twist

Actress Taja V. Simpson, who played Adele on B&B, was excited to share the news with her followers on Instagram that her new romance movie, My Online Valentine, was picked up by AMC theaters for a limited run. She explained, “My next movie will be in theaters on 2/1/19!! This is an independent feature film that normally wouldn’t make it into theaters because industry standard would mandate more larger named actors in it. However, @amctheatres loved it and is giving us a chance! That means, we need you ALL to go see this film!!!” She went on to add in another post, “The select cities will be: #Chicago, #Atlanta, #Detroit, #LosAngeles, #NewYork, #WashingtonDC, #Miami, #Houston, #Dallas, and #Tampa. It will be only one AMC theater per city so we are going to need the support of all you; family, friends, associates, social media followers, co-workers, etc. to help make this a success.”

My Online Valentine stars Simpson as Cozette ‘Cozi’ Newton, a woman who finds romance with Blaze Maddox, played by Blue Kimble (Devious Maids, The Game), through an online dating site. Her ex-boyfriend returns to complicate things right around Valentine’s Day, however, and an unexpected twist changes all of their lives.
