Soap opera alums’ latest projects. has news to share on past soap actors who have landed new roles in primetime, have projects on the big screen, and who are celebrating life milestones.

Kevin G. Schmidt journey comes to fruition

Former Young and the Restless actor Kevin G. Schmidt, who played Noah Newman from 2008 – 2012 has a new film coming out entitled Randy’s Canvas. Schmidt, impressively, not only stars in the movie, but co-wrote and produced it as well. The film, billed as uplifting fiction, surrounds the story of a young man with autism who discovers love for the first time in a confusing world. Through his incredible art, Randy (played by Adam Carbone), and the world come to understand that what makes him different does not define who he is. Randy’s Canvas will screen at the Glendale International Film Festival’s 2018 program on October 11, and is available on DVD and all digital platforms. Schmidt shared a message to his followers on Instagram regarding the film when it launched, and enthused, “What a freakin’ journey.”

Annie Ilonzeh returns to medicine

General Hospital alum, Annie Ilonzeh, played intern Maya Ward on the ABC soap back in 2010 – 2011, and now finds herself playing another character in a hospital setting, this time on primetime television. Ilonzeh landed what was originally the recurring role of Emily Foster, a paramedic, on Chicago Fire, and has been promoted to a series regular. Ilonzeh shared a teaser photo on her Instagram account and excitedly posted, “I just can’t take it! Excited for y’all to meet Emily Foster ? Season 7 premiere’s Sept 26th 9pm @nbcchicagofire”

Robert Newman becomes a suit

Guiding Light star, Robert Newman, who thrilled fans for decades as Josh Lewis, recently revealed he will be appearing on the Netflix series, House of Cards. Newman will be in the first two episodes of the hit series, and plays the role of an EPA administrator named Henry. For those who loved Newman on GL, and later in Venice, the Series, it will be amazing to see him in his latest new role. House of Cards is a political drama starring Robin Wright, who once played Kelly Capwell on daytime’s Santa Barbara.

Marissa Tait ties the knot

The Bold and the Beautiful’s former Becky Moore Garrison, actress Marissa Tait, got married to Aaron Eaton, and her former B&B co-star Adrienne Frantz, who played Becky’s cousin, pot-stirrer, Amber Moore, was on hand for the ceremony. Frantz shared a photo from the wedding on her Instagram account and gushed, “My beautiful best friend @marissatait got married today to Aaron Eaton today! She was the most beautiful bride! I am so happy that these soulmates have found each other! I love you guys so much! So happy to be a part of this special day!!! #soulmates #wedding #beautifulbride”

B&B fans will remember that Becky gave Amber and Rick Forrester her son to raise, and he turned out to be Deacon’s son, now known as Little Eric. Becky developed cancer and died after marrying CJ Garrison.
