In this week’s column surrounding the recent happenings of former actors of current soaps, Soaps.com has uncovered a special honorary celebration, primetime projects and a commercial spot teaming up with a very popular singing sensation.

Sean Kanan to receive star on Palm Springs’ Walk of Stars.
Sean Kanan, who’s had roles on “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” (Deacon Sharpe) as well as “General Hospital” (AJ Quartermaine) and “Sunset Beach” (Jude Cavanaugh), will receive a special honor this week. On Friday October 28 at 12:00 PM many will gather at 849 Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs, California as the actor is inducted onto the Palm Springs’ Walk of Stars, which recognizes notable people who’ve lived in the greater Palm Springs area. Soaps.com congratulates Kanan!

Susan Flannery directs episode of The Fosters.
Much missed “The Bold and the Beautiful” alum Susan Flannery (Stephanie Forrester, 1987 to 2012) is back in the director’s chair. Norman Buckley, director for “The Fosters,” posted a photo to announce that Flannery would be directing an upcoming episode of the Freeform drama, which surrounds the blended family led by Stef (Teri Polo, “Loving’s” Kristin Larsen) and her wife Lena (Sherri Saum, “One Life to Live’s” Keri Reynolds). Look for the series to resume with season four on Tuesday January 31, 2017. The former daytime actress has directed episodes of “B&B,” “Guiding Light,” “The Grove” and Venice The Series and fans grieved the loss of her character when Stephanie Forrester died in Brooke’s arms on November 26, 2012.

Brian Gaskill’s online film Let it Bleed.
Daytime alum Brian Gaskill can currently be seen in the action comedy thriller “Let it Bleed” as The Lunatic. Viewers can catch the flick online via iTunes, Google Play and Vudu and watch as one simple man’s revenge plot ends up making him the target of a crime lord and his team of professional killers. Gaskill has appeared on numerous soaps including “Guiding Light” (Dylan Lewis), “As the World Turns” (BJ Green), “The Bold and the Beautiful” (Ozzy Marone), “Port Charles” (Rafe Kovitch) and “All My Children” (Bobby Warner). He also did a three year run on “The Bay” as Chase Walker.

Taylor Spreitler’s Kevin Can Wait gets full season pickup.
“Days of our Lives” alum (Mia McCormick) Taylor Spreitler stars as Marissa in Kevin Can Wait and for those enjoying the Kevin James comedy, Soaps.com has good news… CBS has given the series a full season order, having averaged 11.26 million viewers, 2.8/09 in adults 18 to 49 and 4.0/11 in adults 25 to 54 on Mondays in the 8:30 PM to 9:00 PM timeslot. The numbers reflect that the show is up +10% in viewers, +17% in adults 18 to 49 and +14% in adults 25 to 54. Fans can now catch Spreitler and the rest of the cast in their regular timeslot, Mondays at 8:00 PM.

Elena Tovar in T-Mobile commercial with Ariana Grande.
Soaps.com’s “General Hospital” writer Dustin Cushman spotted alum Elena Tovar (Rosalie Martinez, 2014 to 2015) in a T-Mobile commercial alongside singer Ariana Grande. Watch as the two sing Grande’s single “Side to Side” when Tovar is suddenly forced to leave Grande in the middle of nowhere due to a low data alert.

Shaun Cassidy to write and produce NBC’s Redliners.
Did you know that 1970s/1980s actor/singer heartthrob Shaun Cassidy appeared on “General Hospital” as Dusty Walker in 1987 after making it big with “The Hardy Boys” series? Aside from his music and brief acting career, he went on to write and produce on various shows such as “American Gothic,” “Blue Bloods” and “Emerald City.” Now Cassidy has been tapped to co-write and co-executively produce “Redliners” at NBC, based off the short stories by Charlaine Harris (The Sookie Stackhouse Series, which inspired “True Blood”). The show, which is comprised of espionage, humor and romance, follows a pair of former spies who find their missions reactivated after an assassin fails to kill one of them and ends up dead themselves. Living in suburbia, it becomes a challenge to keep their secret lives separate from their current personas in their everyday world. Stay tuned for further details.
