The lack of respect and support for women’s voices.
Soaps.com’s weekly rundown of the latest goings-on for former actors of current soaps contains a wedding celebration, primetime, film roles and a new documentary, as well as one alum preparing to become a realtor.
Gina Rodriguez in Mark Wahlberg’s Deepwater Horizon.
“Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez (“The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Beverly) can currently be seen in the feature film “Deepwater Horizon,” starring Mark Wahlberg (as Mike Williams), Kate Hudson (Felicia Williams) and Kurt Russell (Jimmy Harrell). Released on Friday September 30, the film is based on actual events surrounding the offshore drilling rig, Deepwater Horizon, and its April 2010 explosion that marked the worst oil spill in the history of the United States. Look for Rodriguez as Andrea Fleytas and check your local theaters for airtimes near you.
Shelley Hennig to star in When We First Met.
Former “Days of our Lives” actress Shelley Hennig (Stephanie Johnson) has wrapped up one of her latest projects, “When We First Met.” The romantic comedy, which was filmed in New Orleans, follows Noah (Adam Devine, “Modern Family”) and the fallout from spending the perfect night with the girl of his dreams (Alexandra Daddario, “All My Children’s” Laurie Lewis), who deems him ‘just a friend’. However, when he gets the chance to travel back in time three years later, altering that one night also changes his fate repeatedly. Keep an eye out for Hennig as Carrie with Robbie Amell (“The X-Files,” “The Flash”) as Ethan. Stay tuned for its release date.

Kristen Alderson prepares for real estate exam.
Kristen Alderson grew up on the set of “One Life to Live” as Starr Manning (1998 to 2012) and went on to crossover as Starr and to play Kiki Jerome on “General Hospital” from 2012 to 2015. Though the actress is still actively auditioning for roles that come up, she’s also working toward getting her real estate license. Soaps.com wishes her the best! Alderson wouldn’t be the first soap alum to make this career change, as husband and wife duo Austin Peck and Terri Conn Peck are selling houses now.
Fun fact. I can't study anything in yellow highlighter. Only pink or orange.? Seriously, my brain won't comprehend it.

Cady McClain’s Indiegogo campaign, Seeing is Believing: Women Direct.
Former “All My Children” and “The Young and the Restless” actress Cady McClain (Dixie Martin, Kelly Andrews) has launched an Indiegogo campaign titled Seeing is Believing: Women Direct. After touring various film festivals for her two short films “Flip Fantasia” and “The World of Albert Fuh,” where McClain received an honorable mention for Best Director from the L.A. Film Review, the actress realized that women aren’t valued the same as men as directors. After much research, she has put together this documentary in order to help women everywhere and give them leadership skills and the tools needed to succeed in the business.
Of her documentary, McClain tells Soaps.com, “I’ve spent much of my life telling women’s stories as an actress. As the daytime drama medium has diminished in size, I realized I had to do something about the lack of respect and support for women’s voices in the larger media narrative. My goal for this documentary series is to help push the voices of female directors into the popular culture, and thereby establish women’s visions, perspective, and stories as an equally respected and valued part of the status quo.”
Watch the campaign video below and visit the link above to show your support today. McClain also played Rosanna Cabot on “As the World Turns” from 2003 to 2010 and is married to “General Hospital’s” Jon Lindstrom (Kevin Collins).
Lyndsy Fonseca marries Noah Bean.
Lyndsy Fonseca (“The Young and the Restless’” Colleen Carlton) married Noah Bean (“12 Monkeys”) on Sunday October 2. People confirmed the couple said their ‘I dos’ outside the Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Shonington, Connecticut with Fonseca in a designer gown by Sabrina Dehan and Bean wearing a Ted Baker suit. After they were pronounced husband and wife, Fonseca and Bean gathered with family and friends for a cocktail hour followed by a reception dinner, wedding cake, plenty of dancing and went on to celebrate their union with a Portugal honeymoon. Soaps.com sends the couple a lifetime full of happiness. The actors co-starred together on “Nikita” from 2010 to 2013 and Fonseca recently guest-starred on Pitch, FOX’s new baseball drama.
