Soap opera ctors weighed in on the first official dialogue between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

A record 80 million people watched as presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump responded to questions and set forth their political agendas in a live debate yesterday. Everyone’s talking, tweeting, and posting to Instagram about it – including soap stars.

The debate between the Republican and Democratic nominees for president veered between contentious and comical, with moments of levelheaded conversation, as NBC anchor Lester Holt moderated.

“I want us to invest in you. I want us to invest in your future,” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in her opening remarks.

“Under my plan, I’ll be reducing taxes tremendously, from 35 percent to 15 percent for companies, small and big businesses. That’s going to be a job creator like we haven’t seen since Ronald Reagan. It’s going to be a beautiful thing to watch,” Trump offered.

In the two hours that followed, the candidates also took aim at the other’s proposals and vehemently denied accusations levied against them. At times an agitated Trump interrupted a visibly exasperated Clinton.

“I will release my tax returns – against my lawyer’s wishes – when she releases her 33,000 emails that have been deleted,” Trump said to applause from the audience, despite Holt’s request for total silence.

“It was a mistake, and I take responsibility for it,” Clinton said of using a private email account for some of her official duties as Secretary of State.

Soap stars reactions ran the gamut from incredulous, to angry, to proud. Some even said they had a drink before watching the debate.
