In this week’s column surrounding former actors of canceled soaps, Soaps.com has a primetime recast, engagement news, a stage production and a web series addition.
Bethany Joy Lenz in, Thora Birch out at Colony.
Bethany Joy Lenz (“Guiding Light’s” Michelle Bauer Santos, 1998 to 2000) will be turning up on the USA Network’s science-fiction drama “Colony.” Due to scheduling conflicts, Thora Birch had to step away from the role of software engineer Morgan. Fans can expect to see Lenz step into the recurring role during season two, which will return sometime in 2017. The former daytime star also plays April in “American Gothic” and Julie Riley in the 2016 film “Extortion.”
Jean Carol cast in Misguided.
“Guiding Light” alum Jean Carol (Nadine Cooper, 1988 to 2006) is the latest daytime actress to join the comedy web series “Misguided.” Written by Paul Gosselin, who had a lifelong dream of appearing on a soap and did so in a few day-player roles on “One Life to Live,” incorporated his dream into the series, which focuses on Paul, a soap fan, who aspires to become daytime’s next lead actor. Keep an eye out for Carol during season two in early 2017. Filming will take place this fall. The actress also played Florence Kennedy on “Sunset Beach” in 1999.
