Kyra Sedgwick’s career started out with a daytime role, playing Julia Shearer on “Another World” from 1982 to 1983. Over the years she’s been involved in numerous film and primetime projects, most recently as Madeline Wuntch on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and has landed the starring role in “Ten Days in the Valley.” The actress will play a television producer named Jane Sadler, also a single mother, whose life is turned upside-down when her daughter goes missing. The drama was ordered straight to series and will premiere on ABC in 2017 to include ten episodes. Fun Fact! Sedgwick has been married to “Guiding Light” (Tim Werner) and “Search for Tomorrow” (Todd Adamson) alum Kevin Bacon (“Footloose”) since 1988. The couple shares two children.
Thomas Gibson ‘dismissed’ from Criminal Minds.
Daytime alum Thomas Gibson, who’s played Aaron Hotchner on “Criminal Minds” since 2005, has been fired from the CBS series. TMZ reported that the actor got into ‘a creative dispute’ with show writer Virgil Williams a few weeks ago while directing and acting in a scene. As things intensified Gibson kicked the writer in the leg. Though it was first reported that the actor had been suspended for a few episodes, news came later that he’d been ‘dismissed’ by the show. Stay tuned as to how the character will be written out when the crime drama returns with season twelve on Wednesday September 28 at 9:00 PM. Gibson’s daytime credits include “Guiding Light” (Peter Latham, 1987), “As the World Turns” (Derek Mason, 1988 to 1990) and “Another World” (Sam Fowler, 1990).
Bryan Cranston lands Power Rangers role.
“Loving” (Douglas Donovan) and “One Life to Live” (Dean Stella) alum Bryan Cranston voiced Twinman and Snizard in the 1990s kid series “Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers” and will appear in the upcoming film “Power Rangers.” The story follows high school kids who possess magical superpowers and set out on a quest to save the earth. The actor will play the floating head, Zordon, that gathers fighters to take down the wicked Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks). Stay tuned for the release on Friday March 24, 2017. Also, Cranston was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his role in “All The Way.”
Nathan Fillion lands multi-episode arc on Modern Family.
Nathan Fillion, best known to daytime fans as “One Life to Live’s” Joey Buchanan, is heading back to primetime after his “Castle” cancellation, where he played the lead as Richard Castle since 2009. The actor will play a local weatherman on “Modern Family” during the comedy series’ season eight. Executive Producer Steven Levitan teased a bit about Fillion’s role at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, saying fans can look for him in scenes with the Dunphys. Season eight of the ABC series premieres on Wednesday September 21 at 9:00 PM.

The media has been buzzing after photos from various events revealed that “One Life to Live” alum Tika Sumpter (Layla Williamson) is pregnant. Though the actress remained hush, hush about her pregnancy over the last few months, she finally confirmed to “Entertainment Tonight” that a baby girl is on the way.
