In this week’s column, Soaps.com has uncovered a few primetime and film roles, a series exit and return and more surrounding “All My Children,” “As the World Turns,” “Guiding Light,” “Loving” and “One Life to Live” alums.
Alicia Minshew stars in Holiday Shelter.
“All My Children’s” Alicia Minshew (Kendall Hart Slater, on and off from 2002 to 2013) has been cast in the leading role of Paula in an upcoming Hulu pilot titled “Holiday Shelter.” Based on a true story, the premise will follow a widow named Paula who invites a homeless family to live with her and her two teenagers during Christmas. Shooting began in a small New York town on Monday January 11. Stay tuned for details and also keep an eye out for Alicia Minshew in This Is Now.
Tamara Tunie guests on Elementary.
Tamara Tunie (“As the World Turns'” Jessica Griffin, 1987 to 2009; “Days of our Lives'” Judge Weston, 2011) is heading back to primetime, this time with a guest-starring role on CBS’ “Elementary.” The actress will play the role of Lily Cooper in the episode titled “Alma Matters,” where a reconciliation suffers a setback due to a secret that puts the safety of many at risk. Tune in Thursday January 28 at 10:00 PM. The series stars Jonny Lee Miller as Holmes and Lucy Liu as Joan. Tunie also played Dr. Melinda Warner on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” from 2000 to 2015.
Matthew Morrison recurs on The Good Wife.
Soap opera alum Matthew Morrison has landed a recurring role on the CBS’ hit series “The Good Wife,” which also happens to be one of his favorite television shows. He plays a tough assistant direct attorney named Connor Fox who locks up the remaining Illinois governors. Tune in Sundays at 9:00 PM for all of the drama. Morrison first appeared in daytime as Dawson on “Guiding Light” in 2006 before taking over the role of Adam Munson on “As the World Turns” that same year. Prior to his six year run on “Glee” as Will Schuester, he had various guest roles in primetime and film.

Two daytime alums can currently be seen onstage in the production “Naked Influence.” Fans of Robert Newman (“Guiding Light’s” Josh Lewis, 1981 to 2009; “Santa Barbara’s” Kirk Cranston, 1986; “General Hospital’s” Prescott Harrell, 1985) and Yvonne Perry (“As the World Turns'” Rosanna Cabot, on and off from 1992 to 1999; “Guiding Light’s” Brittany Wilding, 1990) can take in shows at the Capital Repertory Theatre at 111 N. Pearl Street in Albany, New York from Friday January 22 through Sunday February 14. The story follows a woman named Lucy (Amanda Sykes) who likes the benefits of being a stripper in an upscale gentleman’s club while keeping her craft from the man in her life, a D.C. cop. Newman plays the role of Dennis, a power broker, with Perry as a club owner/former dancer named Angie. Though Angie looks out for Lucy, the moment Dennis walks into her life it’s never the same. Visit the Capital Repertory Theatre for show times and tickets today. Take note, after the Wednesday February 3 and 10 performances the cast will be on hand to answer questions from the audience.

Tom Pelphrey, who played Jonathan Randall on “Guiding Light” from 2004 to 2009, will appear in the upcoming film “Hear My Heart.” Inspired by true events, the story follows a musician who loses his hearing in an accident, but through a bond created with an abused, deaf dog he makes a name for himself in the music industry. Burt Reynolds stars as Mr. Eldridge with Pelphrey as Jeremy. Stay tuned for “Hear My Heart’s” release date. Last year, Pelphrey played Kurt Bunker on Banshee and appeared as Mick Dante on “As the World Turns” from 2009 to 2010.

Hayden Panettiere returns to studio to tape Nashville scenes.
TVLine has learned that Hayden Panettiere (“One Life to Live’s” Sarah Roberts, 1994 to 1997; “Guiding Light’s” Lizzie Spaulding, 1998 to 2000) is back in the ABC studios shooting scenes for her “Nashville” role. The actress, who plays Juliette Barnes, took a leave of absence late last year reportedly for treatment for postpartum depression. Fans can expect her to appear onscreen this April after season four of the series returns from winter break on Wednesday March 16 at 10:00 PM. Panettiere and her fiancé boxer Wladimir Klitschko share a daughter.
Michael Weatherly leaves NCIS after thirteen seasons.
Michael Weatherly got his start in the business as Cooper Alden on “Loving” in 1992 (to 1995) and is best known for his role as Anthony DiNozzo on “NCIS,” which he’s played since 2003. After thirteen years, the actor is leaving the CBS series. Soaps.com wishes Weatherly the best on his future endeavors! Did you know? Weatherly was married to (September 1995 to November 1997) and shares a child with Amelia Heinle (“The Young and the Restless'” Victoria Newman).
