Soap Alum Nathaniel Marston Dies in Critical Car Accident

Hoping for a miracle.
According to an update on Elizabeth Jackson’s (Nathaniel’s mother) Facebook page on November 11, Nathaniel Marston has died at the age of 40. Soaps.com sends Elizabeth Jackson and the rest of his family and friends our warmest thoughts and deepest condolences. May he rest in peace.
Elizabeth’s latest post: “Nathaniel Marston UPDATE: November 11, 2015 – Dear family and friends, it is with a heavy heart that I share this devastating news. My beloved and cherished son, Nathaniel Marston, who was putting up the good fight until last night was not able to continue due to the traumatic and devastating nature of his injuries. Nathaniel passed away peacefully as I held him in my arms. Father William, myself and his second Mommy Lisa, and our dear friend Charlotte were by his bedside, he was not alone. His injuries, which Dr.’s did their best to heal were not responding to treatment and one after another his bodily functions failed to support his life.
Had Nathaniel lived he would have required a ventilator and would never have been able to utter one more word and would have been sentenced to life as a quadriplegic. A condition that Nate would have never have been able to tolerate. By Gods love and mercy Nathaniel was spared this living hell and has traveled on to be with God, his cherished Grandmother Mary Jackson, Grandfather John Jackson and my sister his Aunt Nora…. God is merciful and because of his mercy God ended Nathaniel’s pain and suffering at 3:15 today PST in Reno, NV. Nathaniel now lives with Father God, surrounded with peace, love and light.
Know that I am deeply grateful for all of you for taking this tragic two week journey with me Nathaniel and our family. Your unfailing support, prayers, love and positive thoughts that you have sent our way, in what has been the worst two weeks of my life, have held all of us up giving us the strength to get through each hellish day.
Arrangements will be made for a memorial service in New York City, NY, Kauai, HI and Gerlach, NV. As soon as dates for these services are known they will be posted. Again, thank you for your prayers, your love, your kindness and your friendship which has allowed me and my family to be strong enough to be by my son’s side for these past 12 days. The outpouring of your love came as an unexpected gift and I don’t know how I will repay you for all of your love, prayers and support. Thank you for sharing your love, your experiences with me about how my treasured child, a man who grew into an individual who touched more lives than I ever could have known. XOXOXOXOXOOX”
Elizabeth Jackson posted an in-depth update on November 10 to explain Marston’s current condition: “Dearest cherished friends and family so sorry for not posting a daily update until now, but it has been a really difficult day for me because I had a complete mental meltdown.. Doing my best to stay strong and hopeful and I am back on track, mainly because I can feel your prayers positive, thoughts and love lifting me back up. Thank you! Enough about me… Nathaniel was and is so wide awake and has been since early this afternoon.. In my last post I shared that Dr.s were and remain concerned about fluid build up in his skull due to the brain shearing injury. Because Nathaniel is so much more alert today than he has been this is a really good sign. While Dr.’s have scheduled surgery to alleviate the pressure on his brain by drilling two small hole in his skull for Wed Nov 11. Dr.’s will perform a brain scan on Wed prior to surgery to see if fluid has begun to dissipate on its own..If in fact the fluid is dissipating on its own surgery will be cancelled… so lets continue to pray that this surgery will not be necessary. When I was finally able to get a grip on myself tonight I sat down to reflect on the number of miracles which have already been given to us in the last 10 days. First Nate was thrown from the truck which saved his life.. Not sure if y’all saw the cab of the truck, but if so you understand that had he stayed inside he would have been taken out in a million pieces. (The truck looks like it went through a crusher)…This did not happen and Nathaniel does not have a visible cut or bruise on his face, hands, or feet.. He has a few minor abrasions on his legs.. How does this happen to a man who went threw a windshield??? Gods will and love…that’s how.. Next I found out and this is something I did not know… Nathaniel’s heart is on the right hand side of his body this is called ‘Situs inversus’ and this only occurs in .01% of the human population. All of the damage to his ribs and lungs is on the left hand side of his body. Had his heart been located in the normal place on the left, Nate would not have survived the accident. Next miracle is that Nathaniel has survived two operations and 10 days later he is still fighting the good fight. Finally Nathaniel has reunited our family. My only brother and nephew and I have been out of contact and have not spoken since 2007. As soon as I emailed my brother that Nathaniel was in a horrific car accident my brother and his son were on a plane from NYC with my nephew and were here the same day. Nathaniel’s brother Ikaika, sister Lani and father (not the sperm donor of 40 years ago) and the only father Nathaniel has ever known and a man who has not left the island of Kauai to visit the mainland since 1970 got on a plane and was here the next day…Final miracle happened today when I was able to read Nathaniel lips as he asked me for a Pepsi… Because Nathaniel is still on a ventilator he cant talk or drink a Pepsi, but Praise God because the ventilator in attached to the tracheotomy instead of by tubes down his mouth and throat, I was able to read his lips and understand what he was trying to say.. Pray that Nathaniel is off the vent soon so he can have a Pepsi.. OK? If God was able to raise Lazarus from the dead I feel confident that he can knit Nathaniel’s broken bones back together and heal the damaged nerves in his neck, Right??? Sending each and everyone of you peace, love and light… Thank you for your prayers, love, support and hope.. God is and has been hearing our prayers and I am confident that Nathaniel has a huge mission and that his purpose on this Earth to show us that with God anything is possible… Sending peace ,love and light to each and everyone of you… Warmest wishes, Elizabeth.”
Last Friday evening, November 9, Marston’s mother Elizabeth Jackson updated fans with more news: “Good evening Family and Friends! As you already know my cherished and beloved Son Nathaniel Marston was in a horrible and near fatal car crash on October 30, 2015. Today was a rough one for both of us which is why it has taken me so long to post a daily update about Nate’s condition. Nate had a tracheotomy today so that the ventilator which is taking his breaths for him, could be placed in his throat rather than by a tube down his throat. This should help in several ways… The tracheotomy will help to reduce infection, as well as damage to his vocal cords. It will also make him more comfortable and best of all I am able to kiss him on his face…Nate is still in critical condition fighting pneumonia, a heart infection, irregular pulse and heartbeat and he is still not breathing on his own, so continued prayers for him are requested because at this point we need a miracle. The prognosis for his recovery is not good and if he makes it through these next few days and weeks it is very possible that he will live as a paraplegic, because injuries to his spinal cord are very severe. There is damage to his C,3,4,5,6,and 7 vertebrata’s. While my heart is breaking and there are moments that I feel I cannot go on, I am a strong believer in the power of prayer and firmly believe that Nate’s life has been spared so he can fulfill the great purpose and mission that our Father God placed him on this Earth to accomplish. So please help Nate to accomplish this mission with continued prayer and positive thoughts. Thank you for your prayers, love and support for Nate, me and our family as your prayers, support, love and positive words and thoughts are holding me up so that I can be here for Nate and our family in this extraordinarily difficult and almost unbearable moment in time… I will do my best to continue to keep all of you updated. OK?”
On Saturday she went on to say, “The good news today is that Nate is still hanging in there and there have been no significant changes today. He is responding to questions appropriately when asked yes or no questions. When asked to raise his eyebrows if he was in pain he did so. When asked if he could stick out his tongue he did so. This is good news so our prayers are being heard. Please continue to pray for Nate. I am doing my best to stay strong for Nate and for all of you his loving family and friends…I can feel your love and prayers which continue to hold me up giving me the strength and fortitude to make it through each moment and each new day. Your love, prayers and support are my lifeline at this crucial moment and they are enabling me to stay the course remaining hopeful that Nate the Great will recover. Blessings to each and every one of you. Sending warm wishes, peace, love, light and hope. Kind regards, Elizabeth XOXOXOXOXOOX.”
Jackson continued with an update on Sunday: “Thank you dearest family and friends for your unfailing love, prayers and support. Spoke to Nate the Great’s neurosurgeon this AM and Nate needs your prayers, love and positive thoughts more than ever. Nate is far less responsive today because Nathaniel has a shearing injury to his brain which is causing problems. (a shearing injury is when brain is shaken back in forth in skull) the Dr.’s want to drill 2 holes in his head to drain fluid and reduce pressure on his brain to avoid brain damage and to see if he will become more responsive so that he can take a more active role in his healthcare decisions and choices.. Thank you for your love and support at this very difficult moment in time. Please continue to pray for Nate the Great and our Family… Sending best wishes, peace ,love and light to each and every one of you. Kind regards, Elizabeth.”
Marston’s mom shared another update on November 6: “Hello Friends and Family! Thank you so much for your continued support, prayers ,positive thoughts and words. I find that I do not have adequate words to express the gratitude I feel for your love and support which has been holding me up since I shared news of Nathaniel’s tragic and horrific accident here on FB. Today was a rough day for both me and Nathaniel. His heart stopped twice today once at 3 AM and once at 10:30 AM this morning. Dr.’s are going to install a pacemaker to help regulate his heartbeat so it is more consistent. For now an external pacemaker has been placed on his chest and it is helping. I almost lost all hope for Nathaniel’s recovery today after a new trauma Dr. shared with me that the most likely prognosis is that Nathaniel will live out his life as a quadriplegic. Before I listened to her and lost all hope for Nathaniel’s recovery I remembered that this Dr. does not know Nathaniel and that she does not know the power of our Father God, who can and will make recovery possible. Thank you again for holding me up with your love, prayers and positive thoughts.”
Of his second surgery, Jackson reported on November 5: “Praise God! Nathaniel made it through today’s surgery….! Thank you again for all your prayers, positive thoughts, and support. Your prayers and positive thoughts ARE working!!!! Please continue to keep Nate in your thoughts and prayers asking God for Nathaniel’s total and complete recovery. With God and faith anything is possible…! Recovery will be long (2-3 years) and will be an arduous fight. As we all know Nathaniel’s a determined warrior who has has never walked away from a fight and he has shown us that this is a fight, that with Gods help he will win. Thank you to each and everyone of you for your support in what is and has been the most difficult and challenging moment of Nate’s, mine and our families lives. I will continue to keep everyone updated.”
November 4, Entertainment Tonight has received a statement from the local Nevada Highway Patrol and is reporting that, “A preliminary investigation has lead police to believe that Marston was fatigued and fell asleep while driving.” The statement made it clear that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the single-car accident. The release went on to state, “The vehicle drifted into the opposite lane and it is believed that when Marston awoke he over-corrected, causing his pickup truck to flip several times.” The former soap actor was not wearing a seat-belt and was ejected from the vehicle through the windshield. Though he has massive injuries, he did not suffer a head trauma.
This morning Jackson posted an update: “Thank you for your love prayers and positive thoughts which ARE making a difference.Nathaniel is going into surgery this afternoon at 12:30 PST. His last surgery to alleviate pressure on the spine went very well and Nate is taking some breaths on his own. Today Dr.s will do their best to repair breaks in his neck and stabilize his neck. Thanks you again for your love prayers and support. I will update everyone as soon as I have more news. Warm wishes from me ,my family and Nathaniel.”
Afternoon update on November 3 from Elizabeth Jackson: “Good news! Nathaniel opened his eyes and was responsive for the first time since yesterdays surgery. Your prayers love and positive thoughts are working. God is good and he has a big mission for Nathaniel. He is scheduled for another surgery on Wed Nov 04. Please continue to cover him with prayers love and light. Thank you! Your love and support is much appreciated by me our family and Nathaniel. Sending all if you love and light.”
Nathaniel Marston’s mother, Elizabeth Jackson, updated fans after her son’s surgery: “Dear Friends and Family of Nathaniel Marston. My beloved Son Nathaniel made it through today’s surgery and his Dr.’s are pleased with the result. He is still in critical condition but now we have hope. Please continue to keep Nathaniel in your thoughts and prayers, asking God for Nathaniel’s complete and full recovery. I will continue to post as I have news. Thank you again for your positive thoughts and prayers which have, and are making a difference. Sending peace, love and light out to all of you.Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Late morning, Jackson stated: “Nathaniel update: Please continue to cover Nathaniel with your prayers. While he made it through surgery he is being slow to wake up…He opened his eyes once at 5AM this morning.. please pray for him to become more responsive… Thank you for your prayers love and support… Sending all of you peace love and light.”
Later in the day, another update was made by Jackson: “Shout out to the media. My beloved son Nathaniel Marston is fighting for his life. While I appreciate you are reporting his accident in an attempt to keep his fans informed so that they can cover him with prayer and positive thoughts… I am sad and dismayed that so many of these articles focus on past mistakes that my son may have made rather than his many accomplishments. Nathaniel has worked very hard for the last two years to become sober and at this difficult time the press should focus on his accomplishments rather than his past mistakes. SHAME ON YOU!”
On November 2, Elizabeth Jackson informed fans of an update: “Nate was able to decide and express very clearly this morni that he is not going to give up without a fight. He is going into surgery at 300 this afternoon. The goal is to get him breathing on his own. The Dr said that there is a good chance that he will recover the use of upper body movement and a slim chance that he will walk again. Recovery will take 2 or more years but where there is life there is hope. Nate has never walked away from a fight and he is determined to win this one.. please pray for Nates full and complete recovery. Both Nate and I appreciate your love prayers and support.” This is good news. Keep him in your thoughts.
According to his mother, Elizabeth Jackson, on November 1 we posted that One Life to Live alum, Nathaniel Marston (ex-Michael McBain), was in a serious car accident Friday October 30. On October 31, on her Facebook page, Jackson posted: “Please pray for my son Nathaniel Marston. He was in a car accident last night and is in the intensive care on life support.” His back and neck were broken in several places and in addition he has other internal injuries. Jackson asks of fans, “Please pray that he will recover and walk again. Nathaniel is now on a breathing machine to keep him alive and he may face life with tremendous paralysis if he survives this tragedy.”
She later updated her page saying, “Just spoke to highway patrol and tribal police. In case rumor mill gets going. Nate was sober according to cops. Waiting to speak to Dr.” The concerned mother requested that his fans pray that he doesn’t wind up a paraplegic as his neck is broken, vertebrae 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 were fractured, his shoulder and all his ribs were broken, and his lung has collapsed.
Jackson later posted another update stating, “Spoke to Nates Dr. In all likely hood if he lives he will be paralyzed from the neck down and will not breathe without a ventilator machine. Oh my God please give me strength.”
Soaps.com will update when new information becomes available. We’re all pulling for Marston and send our best wishes to him and his family.
