July casting moves included a few notable departures, some returns, several new casting calls and more.
The Bold and the Beautiful:
The month of July brought Anna Maria Horsford and Obba Babatunde to the “B&B” canvas as Vivienne and Julius Avant. Schae Harrison returned as the late Darla, Scott Turner Schofield was back as Nick, Othello Clark was in as Othello, Dick Christie popped up as Charlie, and Andrew Collins reprised his role of Jarrett. Calle Morgan and Susan Spano appeared as masseuses, while Isis King, Carmen Carrera, Lisa Malambri and Giselle all played models. Pierson Fode debuted as Thomas Forrester, Winsor Harmon returned to his role of Thorne, and in a surprise twist Ashlyn Pearce left the show when her character, Aly, was killed off. Days of our Lives:
July brought a rumor that actor Shawn Christian could be leaving as Salem’s Dr. Daniel Jonas as he’s in contract negotiations. The news came that Tamara Braun would return as Ava Vitale in December, that Olivia Rose Keegan would be playing Claire Brady, and that former “One Life to Live” star John-Paul Lavoisier had joined the show as Philip Kiriakis. Also this month, Nancy Linehan Charles played Megan, Kasey Mahaffy was on as Martin, Jane Carr played Emma, and Glenn Stanton and Antal Kalik appeared as the guys who interacted with Sonny and Paul at The Edge. General Hospital:
Anthony Geary finished his run as Port Charles' Luke Spencer in July. The show began seeking to fill the contract role of a complex Caucasian female in her late teens as well as an African-American male in his mid-30s who is handsome and charismatic. Nathan Parsons completed his brief return stint as Ethan, Emma Samms wrapped up as Holly, Joe Cortese was in as Frank Smith, and Richard Burgi debuted as Paul Hornsby. Also this month, James Nigbor returned to his role of Jake Spencer, it was announced that Genie Francis would take a break before returning as Laura, and a rumor surfaced that Michael Easton might be vacating the role of Dr. Silas Clay. The Young and the Restless:
Tristan Rogers returned as Genoa City's Colin in July, and Jess Walton and Kate Linder both tweeted that they were coming back as Jill and Esther respectively. Additionally, Ari Blinder played James, Tinuke Oyefule appeared as a nurse, Andy Martinez Jr was on as a police officer, Nicola Lambo played a reporter, and Lou Ferrigno Jr appeared as a guard. Robert Gant returned as David Sherman, Hal Perry played Mr. Rittinsky, and Jessica Collins wrapped up her portrayal of Avery Bailey-Clark. "Y&R" put out a casting call for a Spanish male actor in his mid-twenties to early-thirties to play the new role of Luca.
