General Hospital:
September brought the huge casting news that ex-"Y&R's" Billy Miller was confirmed as Port Charles' recast Jason Morgan. He first appears on October 1. The month saw the returns of Thaao Penghlis as Victor, Robert Kelker-Kelly as Stavros, Constance Towers as Helena, and Derk Cheetwood as Max. Zachary Garred left the canvas as Levi/Peter, and an actress who posted about a return later removed the post from Facebook. The Young and the Restless:
Former "All My Children" head writer, Chuck Pratt, was named as the new head writer at "Y&R," and will also receive an executive producer credit. Genoa City welcomed back Eileen Davidson as Ashley in September, which also brought the return of Shemar Moore as Malcolm for two days. Original "Y&R" cast member, Tom Hallick, dropped in as a truck driver, Meredith Baxter began her run as Maureen, and Chippendales dancer, Jaymes Vaughan appeared at Sharon's bachelorette party. Looking forward, Scott Elrod debuts as Joe Clark and Max Ehrich returns as Fen on October 1. Also, Owen and Henry Leark will debut as Connor mid-month, Seana Kofoed will appear as a psychic, and former "General Hospital's" Kelly Sullivan will begin airing as Sage on October 28. Viewers learned that Chris McKenna will stay on as Detective Harding even though he's joining NBC's "State of Affairs," and that Matthew Atkinson was put on contract as Austin. September casting news included one soap opera getting a new head writer, some reality stars headed to another daytime show, a big name taking a break to do another project, and some exciting returns!
The Bold and the Beautiful:
In September, “B&B” viewers learned that “Big Brother’s” Donny Thompson would be joined in his October 30 and 31 scenes by castmates Amber Borzotra, Zach Rance, Cody Calafiore, Caleb Reynolds, Nicole Franzel, Hayden Voss and Devin Shepherd, and also alums of the reality series who have previously appeared, Brendon Villegas, Rachel Reilly, Elissa Slater, Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd. Four “B&B” actors, Scott Clifton, Ashleigh Brewer, Kim Matula, and Darin Brooks, were announced as those who would be shooting scenes on location in Amsterdam in early October. Dutch entertainer, Ferry Doedens, will appear in their scenes as a Forrester PR person. Heather Tom’s son, Zane Achor, was slated to return on October 1 as Baby Will. The news also broke that Katherine Kelly Lang would be temporarily exiting her role of Brooke to live on location in Milan while doing “Dancing With the Stars Italy.” Find out what will happen with her character through The Bold and the Beautiful Comings and Goings.
Days of our Lives:
Billy Flynn began his two-year contract role of Salem’s Chad in September, Sara Fletcher played Jill, and Joseph Mascolo began airing as Stefano again. Eileen Davidson pulled double-duty as both Kristen and Susan, and a few new casting calls went out. The show is seeking a good-looking and rugged 35-40 year-old Hispanic or Greek actor to play Ares, a 19-21 year-old actress to play gorgeous, flirty Roxanne, and a Hispanic male in the 25-35 year age range for the recurring part of Mateo. The October/November departures of “Days” characters, EJ and Sami loom, as their portrayers, James Scott and Alison Sweeney have already moved on.
